Natalie Portman

peoplestylewatch.com:

"One of the things that's been so nice is that Dior made all of the shoes for me with no animals and no leather or anything," said the vegan actress, who designed her own line of leather-free shoes back in 2008. "They remade all of my shoes so I can wear Dior shoes without taking lives."

A good cause is a good cause. Nathalie is attempting to spread awareness about an issue and her beliefs. I am so surprised at these comments...how could you insult an actress who is attempting to do something good for the world? For saving a few lives? Even if they are "just animals". They suffer and feel pain, just like all of us. She may not be perfect but at least she is trying to do something good in this world. Stop knocking people who are trying to make this world a better place, and maybe think of ways to improve yourself and your contribution.

I would pay more to get fashionable vegan shoes and I'm not a vegan. Designers need to realize the monetary value of selling fashion w/ a conscience.

So, if you buy them at Payless for $10, they are plasic shoes. If they are custom made by Dior, they are vegan shoes. Got it.

Let me make sure I read this correctly: Natalie is getting paid by the company that makes and sells goods made of fur and leather but because she won't wear leather they made a non-leather shoe just for her? Why bother promoting a brand if you don't believe in their brand? Not to name call, but sounds a bit hypocritical. And why not suggest to Dior to make the non-leather shoes for all customers?

Nice to have choices, especially having established companies making an at least attempted effort to be be sustainable.

Huge, congratz to any generation who cares enough about the planet and environment to do something about it, instead of just sitting around on your bass and *itching about things.

You Rock! :)

It's too bad that the rats and the roaches don't get as much sympathy from the crazies.

silly, obsessive and over the top... in need of a cause, are we?

That's the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard.

She's explicitly encouraging people to buy products that are made out of leather, and getting paid a huge sum to do it. I have nothing against leather, but it's so annoying to hear someone so high and mighty about "ending lives" and "murder," when they're more than participating in it.

Natalie Portman has always rubbed me the wrong way; sure, she's gotten two good adult roles in the past six years (wow!) but to hear her talk is like listening to an affected, spoiled brat. She'll never grow up with that attitude.

unfortunately, i thought the focus of her statement (on herself) said the same thing.
i liked her a lot on her younger roles.
