Donald Sterling Taunts Baron Davis: Clippers Owner Heckles His Own Player

Donald Sterling Baron Davis

Los Angeles Clippers owner Donald Sterling has been taunting his own point guard Baron Davis from his courtside seats during games, according to Marc J. Spears of Yahoo Sports.

"Why are you in the game?" Sterling was said to have shouted. "Why did you take that shot? You're out of shape!"

The Clippers currently have a record of 5-20, the worst in the league. The 31-year-old has only played in 11 games, averaging 7.4 points and 5.8 rebounds.

"I have no comment on that," Davis said of the owner's heckles. "It's a fight. You're fighting unnecessary battles. I'm fighting unnecessary battles."

Davis went on to say that it is frustrating because he and his teammates know that he is "capable of getting it done."

I go to Clipper games rather than Laker games because of the incredible differential in ticket prices between the two teams, and they both play in the same arena. I can get a floor seat about 10 rows behind the basket at $35 face value for a Clipper game, whereas the same ticket would cost $120 face value for a Lakers game. In general, Laker tickets are about 3.5 times as expensive a Clippers tickets.

Ten years ago Donald Sterling and the Clippers made the cover of Sports Illustrated - only the caption on the cover was "The Worst Franchise in Sports History." Obviously nothing has changed....

As a Clips fan, all I want for Christmas is for the Donald to sell the team.

It's clear Mr. Sterling sees the potential of his team... #NBA #CLIPPERS #Finally

That's so tacky for an owner. I'm a huge Warriors fan (yeah, it's tough) and Baron is a huge hero to a lot of us. He's a great player who doesn't deserve smack talking from his own team. No wonder the Clippers are even worse than the Warriors and have been for years.

IMO, the NBA needs to get rid of perpetual LOSERS like the LA Clippers, Minnesota Timberwolves, Memphis Grizzlies, Toronto Raptors, etc. Not only that, but teams like the Atlanta Hawks have no fan support...even when they are playing well! I have seen empty seats in Phillips Arena for DECADES. Why should the NBA waste its $ on temas that the public doesn't care to watch?

It is a bit weird, but you'd be surprised how many fans there are for those teams. The thing is, I think it's more difficult to win in basketball and the best owners, coaches and players are not spread evenly throughout the league. I see your point but it's the owners who are willing to lose all the money it takes to keep a team alive.

I strive to be neither a con or lib, but correct!

Contraction should take place in the NBA. By doing so, you increase the talent pool while simultaneously making potential games played more entertaining.

Warriors aren't that superior to the Clips. But yeah, you're better.

Both teams have terrific young players, and in a perfect world, in a couple years will be right there. But as you know, the Warriors and Clippers do not live in such a world. More like Delusionaland.

I hold my breath everytime Blake Griffin goes up for a slam. Not because of the majestic sight of him soaring to the rim, but because I'm hoping he comes down in one piece.

But maybe Baron will get it together and help the Clips to 25 wins this year. I'd be happy with that. Yes, I'm back in Delusionaland.

I've met Donald Sterling he has a fine 20 something year-old black female chauffeur/supermodel who tends to his "needs". It's hard to not feel like you are a demigod when everyone kisses your tight, flat, white, stinking, unwashed behind. Baron Davis is doing the right thing. He's at the end of his career. He had a descent run. As long as he is collecting his money. Baron can curse him out later.

No doubt. Pick up the check and shrug it off...

At any other job, how would an employee feel if his boss was booing him while he was working.

Imagine if a McDonald franchise owner started booing one of his employee and calling him out of shape while he was making a burger.

If he has a problem with Baron Davis, he should discuss it in his office, not yelling at him courtside.

Yes indeed! Another thing, if he's that unhappy with Davis, he should trade him. This owner sounds like Mark Cuban! On the sidelines with a lot of mouth, and saying nothing!

Isn't the owner responsible for hiring?

As a Cowboys fan, I am heartened to see that Jerry Jones is not the worst owner in professional sports.

I hate the Cowboys but at least we know Jerry Jones gives off the impression he wants to win
03:24 PM on 12/14/2010
I would agree more with you regarding Jones wanting to win if he would fire himself and hire a real GM. Until then, Jerry may want to win, but it's going to be a lot more difficult without an experienced GM helping him.

But Jerry Jones is nowhere near as bad an owner as this clown.
Worst Owner Ever = Donald T. Sterling

What a despicable man.

Not the owner. The player. Who agrees to play ball with the Clippers?!?!

jk. The owner is getting what he deserves in an incessantly crappy franchise. He built it. and with that attitude he's going to make sure it continues to fail.
