Reese Witherspoon, Paul Rudd Speechless During Obama Meeting

First Posted: 12/13/10 09:43 AM ET Updated: 05/25/11 07:20 PM ET

Even Oscar-winning movie stars forget their lines sometimes, and Reese Witherspoon told Entertainment Weekly that meeting President Obama left her absolutely tongue tied.

Touring the White House with 'How Do You Know,' co-star Paul Rudd, Witherspoon got the call: the President wants to see you.

"We went to the Oval Office, and there was Hillary Clinton having a meeting with Joe Biden. It was insane," she told EW. "Then Obama came out and he turned to Paul and said, 'I loved you in I Love You, Man.' I grabbed Paul and I was like, 'Are you freaking out right now?' He's like, 'I'm freaking out!'"

And when the President asked Witherspoon what she was doing in Washington, it got even more insane.

'We're doing a movie and...uh, I'm playing a character, who, uh...I'm working with Owen, uh...Owen...'" she recalled. "I could not remember Owen's last name. And Paul goes, 'Wilson!' Like it was a party game."

Let's just hope the President doesn't make any cameos in her next film -- that would be quite the difficult day on set.

I would consider it an honor to meet the president, but if he made the mistake of asking me a question he would get an ear full.

At least Reese managed to get a couple of sentences out. I'm sure I would have passed out if that happened to me.

It sounds like she did not expect to meet the president as part of the Whitehouse tour. I would be speechless too.

Don't act like if you got to meet the President you wouldn't be tongue tied. I'm sure you would walk right up and give him a piece of your mind.

How cool, I can only dream of meeting the President. I never want to see Bush in this life or my next.

Oh, there are a few things I'd -love- to tell W. to his face.

And his father.

And his grandfather if I could. :)

I have met Bush and his dad and mom....I don't need to meet BO at all.
Bush family + awesome.
I met Bill Clinton too...and he's OK and fun to talk to; even if I am a Repub, I thought so.

Im sure Obama could care less you dont want to meet him. Some of you act like you're hurting his feelings or something. Funny how not one of you can place a finger on why you dislike him so much. I have an obvious guess but ill keep that to myself.

One of the things that Obam's Presidency has done is expose a lot of people in this country fo rwho they are. There is going to be no going back after this. Im greatful that he and his wife continue to remain gracious in the face of utter ignorance.

Bush and "awesome" are not compatible in my brain. Were you in a coma from 2000-2008?
