Elle Fanning, 12 Years Old, Steps Out In Neck-To-Toe Rodarte (PHOTOS, POLL)

When we were 12 years old, our idea of a designer ensemble was a Bulldog thermal and embroidered, shiny blue pants ordered from the dELiA*s catalog. But my, how things have changed -- even for young Hollywood. Case in point: Elle Fanning.

The tween stepped out to Sunday night's screening of "Somewhere" in N.Y.C. in neck-to-toe Rodarte. Rodarte, for fashion's sake! Right down to her metallic, strappy wedges, worn with socks, of course.

Check out Elle's look (and how it appeared on Rodarte's runway) and tell us what you think.

Quick Poll

Elle's ensemble:

RAD! Never too early to rock a designer.

BAD idea! She's 12 years old...who gave her those shoes?

I guess 12 is the new 15? She certainly looks a lot less awkward and childish than her sister did at that age. Very poised.

She's a Hollywood star. The dress is fashionable and appropriate. The shoes are too high for her age. The same style with a lower wedge would have been a better choice. Young girls always try to push the boundaries and wear things a little old for them. That's what parents are for.

What is so inappropriate about this dress on this adorable young lady. Not the scary wannabe 12 again model, but the young woman that the dress was appropriately altered for. She’s wearing high heels for her age, but for one great night, I’d let my daughter look that amazing.

i still don't think shoes that high are appropriate for anyone under the age of 18...

This is completely alright.. it's not even offensively sexual.. more like childlike and charming.

Wear what ever you want and forget the moral army!
If people with no life get angry about your heels,
It's only because their kids are ugly compared to you!
This kid belongs in front of the camera.

Incredibly inappropriate!

That dress is hideous...Why would anyone spend money on that? Now, she is 12 years old and has no business dressed like an adult!
10:58 AM on 12/15/2010
What! Now that make my brain hurt- no business suits for she is 12...ok sounds right but..

i don't think that is what most adult women dress like. Runway fashion are costumes. They are only for catwalks and red carpets... and Halloween. So, I don't see anything wrong with this. Her lack of boobs aren't showin like the models', so what's the issue?

I love the look on her. If it were a more revealing dress the shoes would be inappropriate. But the addition of the stocking really makes it more young and playful than sexy. Good balance here for a girl her age that still lives in the reality of Hollwood.

While the dress looks like Gladiator meets TV Star Trek, it comes off kind of cute and pinafore-ish on someone so young and sweet looking.
But I don't care what the current fashion in dress shoes is (I see them as very expensive torture devices), a twelve year old has no business in such incredibly high heels--even if in wedge form. She could have easily had a pair just like that but with little or no heel. Besides, why let her start so early on a fashion choice which is so unhealthy for feet and back? Where's Mom?

She's a kid - she got all gussied up for a party....so? She didn't wear it to School!

The dress was perfectly modest and was really more flattering on Elle than on the model!

Forget the fact that she's 12 (and I don't really like that a child is up for review), that dress is really hideous. Designer or not, it's just a bad dress. Obviously influenced by Roman gladiators- I noticed they did adjust the sides for her so it wasn't so revealing. And I'm REALLY not digging the white stockings with the shoes. Not a good look...for anyone.
