This is dangerous! They will at some point be telling the school system what and how to teach. Also who to hire and who to fire. Do we want corporations acting as EMO's.

Today's lesson on war and conflict in Africa brought to you by our sponsors De Beers.

Would this really be a bad thing? Sure, the corporations coming in would have their own interests, possibly training kids for future employment within their corporation. But is that so bad? Many high schools today are so cash strapped that they really aren't training kids to do anything. Where I taught, there were no art or music classes to stimulate creativity. There wasn't even a computer class- I mean, come on! In another article on Huffington Post, using spell check on an exam was in question. Where I worked in Boston, students weren't even taught how to type, let alone run a spell check! It's sad how many cuts have been made to schools, but it is the reality we're facing. If corporations want to fund schools, they may have motive to train the students to work for them in the future, but is that so bad?

There appears to be more and more schools and districts leaning this way to get funding. Be careful what you wish for when the corporations start telling everyone what and how to teach.

The Supreme ones have declared that corporations are people. The largest corporations in the country are refusing to loan money, hire nor grow their businesses - they are sitting on $trillions. They funded and bought the GOP in our last election... crafting the new tax bill that just passed that gifts them and their businesses, hundreds of $billions in tax breaks. They want MORE... they are requiring Obama to further deregulate their businesses and give them more reassurances before they will spend $1 to help our citizens. OMG... they're now going to fund our public education? What are taxes for if not to educate our children without outside influence. Will corporations have power over what is taught in our schools? With the direction our country is heading - I can see it now. Creationism taught next to that other scientific theory. Abstinence taught instead of reproductive education. Arts and PE will give way to skills classes - because the children in public schools will be the poorest, who can only succeed in a skilled labor force. The next step is to cut the minimum wage so these corporations won't have to go out of our country to find cheap labor - they'll find it right in their neighborhood. I'm so disillusioned. I see myself as an activist - fighting for the common man - but my power has been rendered non-existent. Mr. President, where are you?
There is no more "power to the people." This is a very sad day.

Yes, of course, we will be out bidding the name of the country very shortly, now that the corporations own half Congress.

I'm not so sure this is going to work. I just read the article about the new cap and trade bill and upping the amount of money corporations will have to pay out.

You might be seeing corporations fleeing California and not supporting this proposal. It will remain to be seen how it all goes down.

If this happens it will be the first step toward privatization of our public school system. The governor elect Scott of Florida is already trying to do something similar in Florida.

I knew California was in trouble when people allowed a special interest group headed by Darryl Issa to unseat Gray Davis a sitting state governor and replace him with Arnold the dumbanator.
But people in California just let it happen, now Darryl Issa is in Washington D.C. planning to run a negative propaganda and slander campaign against the president.

Soon our youth who don't come from rich families will no longer be educated in America, in Texas they have already begun to rewrite the text books. What will it take for people to wake up in this country?

George Orwell's vision of big brother is coming to fruition in a very real way...litttle by little "they" (our government and its incestuous relationship to corporate america) are chipping away at our freedoms and blurring the lines between business, government, and total ruling and control of the working class...1% of the people now have complete control over the fate of at least 97% of the people, and counting...with 2% somewhat in between...

time to wake up people...

Rather late for that, less tax dollars for education is a set up for corporate control of education, we're there!
