Patrick House Drops 181 Pounds, Wins NBC's 'Biggest Loser' Season 10 (VIDEO)

First Posted: 12/15/10 03:26 PM ET Updated: 05/25/11 07:20 PM ET

Patrick House has downsized to a studio apartment -- that is to say, he won the tenth season of NBC's 'The Biggest Loser.'

The former college football player dropped an astounding 181 pounds, to slim down from 400 pounds to 219. At 6'2, he looks fit, trim, healthy and happy -- and it's not just because of his new body. The $250,000 prize money comes at a crucial time.

"I lost my job in January, so a lot of the money is going to pay back my family and friends that I borrowed from just to live this year," he told Us Weekly. "I'm going to get my family back on our feet and start my new life."

A father of two from Mississippi, he'll now run South Carolina's Mind Stream Academy, helping overweight teens trim down and learn.

Coming in second was Alfrado "Frado" Dinten, who lost 162 pounds; in third was Ada Wong and her 99 pound weight loss and Elizabeth Ruiz finished fourth.

Great accomplishment all of the contestants. I love the show, good TV and the second season the at home winner had the largest % of weight loss. Just prove that people can accomplish what they want once they put their mind, body, heart and good habits to it.

Patrick, Adam, Rick, Ada, Mark -- they all had great weight loss stories! I was so pumped and motivated all season and looking forward to season 11 on Jan. 4th. I mentioned this in the Sing-off thread and got scrubbed twice. Who is against fighting obesity? Anyways, I started running this week (been conditioning my bad knees for several weeks) and I've lost 5 lbs this week! I'm doing it! Congrats Patrick!

I don't watch it weekly but when I do I'm so happy for these people. It's like they get a second chance...to be healthy and be a great example for their friends and family. I love the concept.

I've stayed up for the finale every season but this. Too much game-play this time. Not enough of the human drama - fixing what is broken.

Finale was predictable. Most interesting part was the "at home" challange. Good to see folks like Aaron, Mark, Jesse, and Rick were so successful.

It was a no-brainer that the home vote between Ada and Elizabeth would go to Ada. I don't know that it was necessary for Alison to say it was a landslide though, that made me feel kind of bad for Elizabeth. Like everyone, I was a big fan of Ada and I really wanted her to win.

I think Ada's mother understood that they had been too harsh on her, but her father didn't seem as if he would budge. I hope I am wrong about that. The type of father who rules with an iron fist is my impression of him. Ada was such a wonderful contestant and person and I hope she can put all of that behind her and be truly happy.

Patrick was okay, I am glad he won over Fredo.

Patrick looked great, strong and healthy; but I so wanted Ada to win! Her story broke my heart. Nothing like a lifetime of emotional abuse from your parents to give you the incentive. And why no mention of at-home winner Mark, who walked away with $100,000 and is now a total hottie?!

I wanted Ada to win too. Her story hit too close to home for me. She might have to decide to live her life without her parents in it. I have done it, and I have never been happier, but I am older than Ada, have a wonderful husband and two children. I wish the very best for her and her future.

Like you, I related to her story. I'm glad you found peace and happiness; I finally did, as well, and I hope the same for Ada. Sometimes the only thing left to do is close that door and move on.

These contestants are so amazing. It's so great to watch such a positive results show where the runners-up are still applauded and treated like winners. (Because they are, of course.) What a wonderful little oasis of happiness and victory. Congratulations to all of them!

I agree. Each season there are so many great people, I wish they could ALL get a prize, because they all deserve one. They are so dedicated, work so hard and root for each other. Happy that Patrick won, now he is getting his life back on track. Ada is a sweetheart. I applaud every last one of them for what they go through to lose weight. Plus, they learn about themselves. I will miss Jillian.

Colmore, they are getting a prize, losing that much weight is winning your life back :)))

So happy for him. He seems like a sweet-natured kid and they all seem so much happier now that they've gotten healthy. Great for Frado also who was able to knock his diabetes!

I'd make a joke about his surname, but it's too easy!
Good for him for getting fit!

Call me superficial..but is it just me, or do these contestants seem to become "attractive" and some even hot, especially the men, after losing all the weight and bulking up?

Healthy is attractive like KJLSanDiego said, but you're right. A lot of these contestants got really, really hot. Ada is one of the most beautiful girls ever. And those boys, my heavens! The fact that they were that motivated and committed is also amazing and beautiful, imho. :-)
