With the selection of Mark Zuckerberg as Time's 2010 "Person of the Year," we thought it would be a good opporunity to take a look back at some of the magazine's other choices for people, things and ideas of the year. Below, see Time's "Person of the Year" covers (though they were called "Man" or "Woman" of the Year until fairly recently) from 1980 till now. Don't forget to tell us which you think deserved it and which didn't. And check out our other coverage of the Zuckerberg selection, from his place alongside other Time techie covers to his status as a college dropout who made it big to his 5 smartest moves.

Julian Assange, but Time has gone the way of the academy awards: bubbleheaded irrelevance. Facebook is just magnifiying those annoying friends that used to publish family newsletters, as if you really cared wth is going on in their lives in granularity. Thanks but no thanks. How about some mystery damnit.

Photos of Zuckerberg and Putin are so creepy. I would be scared to buy the magazine.

Did anyone else notice that the 'M' in 'Time' behind Bill Clinton's head makes him look like he has an adorable pair of devil horns?

Does anyone remember if they picked one for 2000? (queue Conan tune: "in the year 2000... in the year 2000...) I see Person of the Century for 1999 but no slide for 2000. I can't remember who/what it was. I'm thinking maybe it had something to do with the 2000 election farce or Y2K or the person that mapped the human genome? maybe that's on there already.

I believe that WikiLeaks should have been this years person of the year, a natural progression from the Computer, and You.

Other good choices ignored over the years, Yahoo, Flickr, Blogspot and Youtube.

I see too much influence from the Banksters in these choices.

Slide #11: The Two george Bushes: Wrong choice. Should have been China's two new leaders Jiang Ze Min and Zhu Rong Ji. But, without a chrystal ball, or actual intelligence, who would have known, here in the West?

Bushes led the US into decline, while Jiang and Zhu led China's rise.

Slide #6: Deng Shao Ping: A truely bad man, but a good choice, although for te wrong reason. later in 1989, Chinese people took to the streets demonstrationg against his "corrupt" policies, smashing small bottles on the groung, (due to smash small bottle, ma shao ping, sounding like hit shao ping. The MSM mis-portrayed these demonstrations as student led democracy crusaid.

Heard of the China streets today, "Mao was right about Deng." referring to mao critizing deng and during the cultural revlution.

PS: If you think I am wrong, you are either misinformed, or the mis informer.

I stopped buying Time Magazine when Adolf H!tler was not not chosen Man of the Century!....By their own criteria he was the Choice but they said they didn't want to be negative!.......So instead they G00fed it!......So much for Credibility!.......It's supposed to be who has had the Greatest Effect for Good OR Ill......

What about putting the person with the most votes on the cover, instead of Mark Zuckerburg. But I guess the US government whisper who they didn't want.
