Yahoo Selects 212 Most Iconic Images Of 2010: From Haiti To The Saints

First Posted: 12/15/10 02:52 PM ET   Updated: 05/25/11 07:20 PM ET

Its been quite a year. But then we say that every year around this time. We can barely go twelve days without something taking over our airwaves and ruling water cooler conversations, so its no shock that when looking back on the year 2010, Yahoo! could only whittle it down to 212 of the most iconic images. From the earthquake in Haiti to the Saints winning the Super Bowl and from the BP oil spill to the Spanish win at the World Cup, this year has seen high highs and low lows, but then it's not over yet. Here's a small selection of Yahoo's all-inclusive slideshow. To see the full selection, click here.

plus Huff_Po left out what is, IMHO, the most powerful one of the set: The very first image on the site of the lone woman walking down the streets of Port-au-Prince after the earthquake.
haunting image.

Two things:

1. Don't like, I hate, the slide show interface ...They should just use the one I'm used to. The one with the little blue arrows in the upper corners. So much easier.

2. I don't like this word---> Eyjafjallajokull (the volcano)..... Someone got on a QWERTY keyboard and banged their face against it and called the creation language.

Sports photo's, to me, aren't iconic, they spring up everywhere.

Ditto. A more apt photo would've been the hundreds of thousands of Spaniards freaking out in the public square in Madrid.

Super Bowl and American girl athlete not iconic of 2010 at all. Those types crop up any year. The photos should be iconic of one year in particular so that you could look at them and immediately say 2010. If they had waited a bit longer, they could have included the repeal of DADT.

Absolutely correct.

What about some more photo's of the extent of the damage of the BP Oil Spill, too. There is more to "iconic" photo's than T and A.

To me, the joyous images of Chilean miners will always stand for hope and optimism of 2010, despite all the hardships and negativity of the year's events and politics.

It was a great moment, but all in all, hardship and negativity dominated 2010.

This image of the Israeli flag with the caption "Flotilla headed to Gaza under fire" was obviously agitprop with the flag looking tattered).
