Piet Mondrian's First Retrospective Since 1969, at Centre Pompidou in Paris (VIDEO)

Aside from being a seminal European post-war artist and founder of the De Stijl movement, Piet Mondrian is one of those artists that had an all encompassing vision that manifested itself in all aspects of his life, beyond the canvas. On view now at the Centre Pompidou in Paris is Mondrian's first retrospective in France since 1969. And one of the highlights of the exhibit is an exact reconstruction of his Parisian apartment; his space looks like a three-dimensional, live version of his paintings- geometric shapes and primary colors galore. The retrospective runs through March 21st, 2011. Check out the video below for a voyeuristic look at his apartment and some commentary on his genius!

I love it when an artist, or even an non-artist, achieves this sort of wholeness.
