There is something so magical, so primordial about fashioning a shape from clay, from sand and water. We all did it as kids, either at after-school pottery class or during long summer days spent on the beach making sandcastles.

And some folks didn't stop. Here are the Huffington Post's picks of 19 places around the world where you can see the most incredible (or bizarre) sand sculptures, some at festivals and others permanent pieces, astonishing and delighting everyone who looks upon them. We'll add pictures of your favorite sand sculptures too!

They have a huge Sand Sculpture festival around Port Aransas texas and there is another one on the Coast of Washington.
I have only heard about the one in Washington.
The one in Texas was awesome!

Hampton Beach New Hampshire isn't on there? Their sand castle building is world-class. Good stuff.

Great photos, but it's be nice if they had some information on HOW they make these sculptures. I've done research into it and it's pretty interesting.

They do it by just water and compressing the sand. Usually a crew of 2 people.
I have seen crews up to 5 pretty extensive working together that is for sure.
