Evelyn Kuhn Sues Over Image Used In Stella Artois Ads (PHOTOS)

First Posted: 12/20/10 08:41 AM ET   Updated: 05/25/11 07:20 PM ET

Sixties top model Evelyn Kuhn is suing after an old photograph of her was used in a Stella Artois advertisement, the New York Post reports. Kuhn is seeking $7 million from Corbis Images, which held the rights to the 1963 image used in Stella's March campaign.

Corbis said the lawsuit is "without merit."

We did some digging and found what we think is one of the ads in question, featuring a small image of what looks like Kuhn at top right. It was part of a 1960s-inspired series featuring the fictional character Jacques d'Azur.

Take a look and check out some of Kuhn's old work below.

I doubt very much if any model owns these rights.
They all sign releases at the time.

Thats not true. A top model of her time, i.e. Cindy Crawford, Naomi Campbell, etc, would almost certainly NOT sign a model release that allowed for promotional or commercial use of their likeness. Maybe things were different in the 60s though.

You need to update your slide show technology programming - doesn't work correctly on macs or ipads or better yet, you can place more than one photo on a page - the whole slideshow thing reeks of old web technology like Flash.
