Facebook 'Who Has Deleted Ya' Scam Promises Free iPhone, iPad

The Huffington Post   First Posted: 12/20/10 04:24 PM ET Updated: 05/25/11 07:20 PM ET

Facebook App Scam

If one of your Facebook friends sends you a link touting an application called "Who Has Deleted Ya," do not click on it.

The post is part of a self-replicating spam attack that posts itself to all your friends' walls when you click on it and links to a scam website. AllFacebook reported the spam attack on Sunday.

The bogus post includes a fake message that reads, "i cant believe how many people av removed me from your friends list! well i kno who you all r now, & im coming 2 get ya!"

Clicking on the "Who Has Deleted Ya" link will redirect you to a site that promises a free iPhone 4 and iPad if you complete a survey. "[The survey] earns the spammer a commission, and only at the very end does the site clarify that you're entered into a drawing for an iPhone 4 and iPad, not necessarily an actual winner," AllFacebook warns.

One thing I never do on Facebook is click on any of the BS links people send me. I just assume they are all spyware. I am also one of the few people I know that don't get viruses. Coincidence??
11:25 AM on 12/23/2010
I'm the same way. I have friends that get viruses all the time because they will click on anything!

Don't even think about clicking this story, eh

Who cares who deleted you? This is an ultimate vanity app and I have a hard time mustering up any sympathy for anyone who applied it to their profile.
Just sayin'!

There's more than just this one. How about the one that says, "See what this dad said to his daughter on FB, to cause her to kill herself." or some nonsense like that....just to get your attention. Just hit hide, and the sender will pop up and it's not your friend. So beware. After a while you just know what your friends would and wouldn't send.

haha, it would be more believable if you weren't a "level 2 super user" on an online news site.

Er,

that time has come and has not past...

and it even continues.

ANYONE using any of those "APPS" (games, quizzes, ect.)

is subject to the same scam...

You want to "play on a social (computer) network"...

you can expect "a social (computer) disease"...

...just sayin'

I've seen the "Is this you in this video. I can't believe what you're doing". too.

Scams have been going around as long as Facebook has been there. You just don't click on anything that seems odd.

For about three weeks, I was getting Facebook "invites" from women I didn't know, along with nude or partially nude photos of each one. Another scam.

Not really a scam to worry about but more like a waste of time as a concern.
