Ginnifer Goodwin Weight

E! Online:

"I have been a member of Weight Watchers for 23 years and I'm back on it right now.," Ginnifer Goodwin, 32, says in the new issue of Health magazine. Yes, Health magazine!

"It's the only thing on the planet that doesn't dehydrate you or just make you miserable," she continues. "I've never had a dramatic weight problem, it's just that I tend to indulge, and then I need to get back on track so I can button my pants."

Goodwin claimed yesterday she started WW 23 years ago, back when she was 9 -- but there was a big policy change in 2003 ... The company line now is that it's potentially dangerous for kids under 10 to join the program.

Dr. Suparna Jain -- a pediatric endocrinologist -- tells us WW is wise not to give its stamp of approval to anyone under 10, because the diet does not provide enough calcium and protein for a growing body. The Weight Watchers program is predicated on calories, fiber and fat, not fundamental nutrients.

WW puts the onus on a child's doctor, saying, "Between the 10th and 17th birthday, a doctor's permission note is needed and the doctor is responsible for recommending a healthy weight goal."

Weight Watchers was originally modeled after a diabetic diet and still conforms closely to that.
If she was on it since 9 there may have been some medical issues, like diabetes.
I like that she knows her good weight, that she hasn't felt the need to continually decrease the number. I don't find the veiny look of Madonna and Angelina healthy looking.

Oh dear...obsessive personality! Very abusing of yourself . why a child would even consider a program like that when you were suppose to obsess over being a child?
Please people, the shallowness that these celebs are showing is absolutely a bad role model for our kids and even ourselves. Looka t Angelina Jolie..and Brad Pitt..at least they are making a difference in the world! Do that and your weight issue will be irrelevant in a minute.

You want to know what I think is causing chilhood obesity? All the drugs children are taking to control their ADD, ADHD and all other misdiagnosed conditions. Parents drug their children these days so they don't have to deal with them. They turn into little zombies zoning in front of the TV playing Xbox!!! With that being said I don't see any reason to criticize Ms. Goodwin for a life long commitment to healthy eating habits. This should be taught to all children starting at a young age.
Also, I am not a scientologist and i do not think ADD is a myth, just abused!!!

Weight Watchers works, that's for sure. I used it and lost 25 pounds in a year. But, she's been on it since age 9! Wow, that's a long time to pay someone to tell you how to eat food. You think she would get it by now.

WW is FREE for lifetime members. Not that she would have to worry about $10 bucks a week!

So, as a 9-year old, Ms. Goodwin saved all of her money and made the conscious decision to join Weight Watchers?

Incredulous Troll is incredulous.

My one most important moment health-wise was when I realised how much I was put off by the thought of putting myself on a diet to attain some notion of body-happiness.
That was about two years ago. I was never overweight then, just unhappy about a few kilogramms that always came and went without me seeming to have any control over it.
Until I decided to finally start eating the way I so wished to eat for the rest of my life, which turns out is quite healthy with lots of loving indulgence on top.
I first put on some weight (which severely tested my resolve), then I lost that again without changing anything, and since then everything is great!
When I began that, I didn´t know where it would lead but I trusted that if I finally let my instinct work its magic, everything would become the way it was supposed to be in the first place.

I wish that revelation on everyone who is unhappy with their weight, and the resolve to trust oneself finally.

I think Miss Goodwin's publicist told her to say this in order to get some press. And it worked.

Well, she was interviewed by a health magazine. Seems a relevant topic.

When I was 9 I ate all the junk I could get my hands on. Never gained a pound because I was always outside running around, doing stuff. It's sad to think of a 9-year-old on Weight Watchers.

Weight Watchers is about portion control and assigning points to everything you eat so that you don't over-indulge. Is nine a young age to be aware of nutrition and weight and eating habits in this country? Yes, but it shouldn't be.

Good for you, Ginnifer Goodwin. I wish we could encourage all nine year olds to think about what they're eating and develop good habits that they could boast about 23 years later.
