Palestinian Shepherd Killed By Israeli Army Near Erez Border

Palestinian Shepherd

12/23/10 01:53 PM ET   AP

GAZA CITY, Gaza Strip — A Palestinian medic says the Israeli army shot and killed a shepherd near Gaza's border with Israel.

Adham Abu Salmia said the man was leading his goats in an open area near Gaza's Erez border crossing with Israel Thursday when he was shot. He died later in hospital. Another man with him was wounded.

The Israeli army said Gaza militants use the area to attack Israelis, so it allows no one to enter. It says soldiers fired warning shots at two men before shooting them in the lower body.

Violence has escalated in recent weeks on Gaza's borders. Israel says the ruling Hamas militant group recently fired a tank-piercing missile for the first time. The army says it is deploying technology that can shoot down incoming projectiles before they hit.

I saw this story on Facebook and the link with it which took me to a home-made web-site, which was not recognised as registered, said that the shepherds name was Salama Abu Hashish, which translates as Peaceful Father Hashish, a phoney name surely. If the web-site cannot provide a real name then we have to question the validity of such a story, I tried to find corroboration for the story and could not, no other news-site had it, although they may be running it now as nearly all news agencies "lift" stories from each other rather than pay for them, I do not know where HuffPost got this story from, but when I tried to find it previously even Al Jazeera and Al Arabiya did not have anything on it.

The guys were not shepherds and the goats were borrowed.
You all fall for the game every time.

No doubt these were trained suicide attack goats, and thus the killing was justified.

Here's an interesting and little known fact, for what it's worth:

Only 2% of Israel's population is Christian, almost all of that 2% are ARAB and PALESTINIAN Christians.

In other words, almost all the Christians remaining in Israel are Palestinian and Arab Christians who are now being persecuted by right wing fanatical settler Jews with money being supplied to them from right wing fanatical "Christian" televangelist groups in the United States who believe they are supporting the "chosen people" even though right wing settler Jews do not believe in Jesus and have a history of using political and physical force as well as violence to gain control of Palestinian land/territories.

Much of this is done under the umbrella group called "The Israel Lobby".

If this wasn't so tragic and deadly for some, it would be humorous.

Hundreds of thousands of Palestinian Christians have already fled from Israel. There are an estimated 144,000 Palestinian Christians remaining in Israel.

Although most Christians and Jews are NOT right-wing religious/political fanatics, the ones that are seem to have a lot of political influence and press coverage in Israel and the U.S. This seems to be to the detriment of Palestinian and Arab Christians in Israel.

Israel has repeatedly rejected peacemaking resolutions/plans issued by the 192 member nation U.N.

Meanwhile, as our economy continues its downward spiral, Israel is standing with its hands outstretched to receive $3.5 billion in military aid funded by US taxpayers. Go figure!!!

B.S. the Palestinians get very little of ANY of the money alotted them as it is funneled through Israel which holds the funds up, just as they do with the custom "duties" they collect on goods going to the Palestinians, who see none of the duties levied by Israel in the name of the P.A. When they do get a stock pile of aid ,as in the U.N. warehouse in Gaza, it gets targetted by the Israelis as part of their criminal immoral policy of civilian attacks.Israel targets civilians, like this shepherd, daily, with impunity as the war against the Palestinian population is supported by the U.S. America, and Americans killed this man just as surely as the IDF.

$225 million have been appropriated for economic aid to the Palestinians and $75 million for support of PA police training, etc. for FY2009. The U.S. also provided just over $61.5 million (as of February 13, 2009
These are funds APPOPRIATED, not DELIVERED, and are clearly LESS than half a billion.

Oh I see , one good crime deserves and justifies another. Bernie Made--off stole 50 billion- the vast majority going to Israeli banks, so therefore the U.S. should send another 50 billion, to the criminal state of Israel

I find it interesting that so many talkbackers, who were acting like mini-detectives on the Christine Logan thread, now instantaneously believe whatever the article says as established fact.

Why is it that when Christine Logan's companion told the police that they were attacked by what she believed were two Arab men, you all immediately assumed she was either (a) a racist (b) lying or (c) both? And yet when Palestinians tell us one story that is contradicted by the Israelis, you immediately believe them?

Why the double standards?

And you are the first person(s) to scream deflection!

HAHAHAHA! Christian Logan, this is rich...

In more than 60 years, can you recall anything that Israel has ever admitted was their fault?  Even when they absolutely get caught?

The war is on and it will get worse with Hamas' threats.

Israel targets civilians, plain and simple, In Haaretz, the Israeli military analyst Zeev Schiff summarized General Gur's comments as follows: "In South Lebanon we struck the civilian population consciously, because they deserved it...the importance of Gur's remarks is the admission that the Israeli Army has always struck civilian populations, purposely and consciously...the Army, he said, has never distinguished civilian [from military] targets... [but] purposely attacked civilian targets even when Israeli settlements had not been struck."

Have you heard?

According to The Palestinians, Jesus was a Palestinian.
You are aware that Jesus considered himself to be Jewish.
And Christians consider him to be Christian.
Therefore "Palestine" belongs to Jews and Christians.

Isn't that interesting?

Palestine has been inhabited by Arabs since the stone age, per Dr. Ariella Oppenheim.

The Russians never lived there, until the '40s.
