NORAD Santa Tracker 2010: See Where Santa Is Right Now

First Posted: 12/24/10 03:57 PM ET Updated: 05/25/11 07:20 PM ET

Want to know where Santa is right now? The North American Aerospace Defense Control (NORAD) can tell you with its Santa Tracker.

NORAD has been tracking Santa's Christmas journey with its official Santa Tracker for 50-plus years, plotting St. Nick's path around the world.

Recently, NORAD partnered with Google to let you track Santa on Google Earth (and in 3D no less!). In fact, NORAD met with Google executives earlier this week to prepare for the annual project.

You can literally watch Santa and his reindeer zoom past 3D landmarks like the Champs Elysees, Taj Mahal, and Empire State Building en route to delivering presents and Christmas cheer.

What are you waiting for? Track Santa here (and in 3D here).

Based on some of these many negative comments, I am thinking a bunch of candy canes didn't end up in some stockings, but instead, were firmly lodged sideways in peoples "chimneys."

Reach around in there, feel for the hook and pull. When you are done handling that problem, join the other fun loving people for just once. Not much to ask... or is it?

So Norad can track Santa Clause but could not track hijacked planes during sept 11th? This is what we waste government resources on?

I have been called Santa because of my resemblance but I have been home the 24th, 25th and today because I wasn't inspired to go out and scrape the snow and ice off of my car. But Santa travels by a reindeer powered sleigh to and from the Geographic north pole. [What happened to Homeland Security's Neapolitan?] He used to ride a horse name Amerigo to and from Spain.

Is this true??? I think the NORAD employees had some extra super Eggnog.
The date is all wrong: Sinterklaas day is December 6 of the Julian calendar which can be converted to December 19th of the Gregorian adjusted calendar.
I doubt if it has ever been included for any other calendars.

I do love this about NORAD.

My dad would make a great show of having to go to work, until the base called back confirming that it was Santa.

Amazing how NORAD can track Santa, but they couldn't protect America on 9/11.

Guess Cheney being over at NORAD HQ seems to lower worker productivity.

It's kind of funny- NORAD tracking an imaginary fat man probably costs us next to nothing.

Yet when "Fiscal Conservatives" have the US Government make stuff up, it costs the US Taxpayers TRILLION$.

NORAD can keep track of Santa but didn't notice planes had turned around in mid flight on 9-11. FU NORAD!

Guess NORAD was just happy Cheney didn't stop and tell them to stand down.

Uh oh, NORAD just shot down Santa. Mrs B said she was proud of Santa's redistribution efforts but he was just too porky.

This is so cool.
When I was a little kid, my dad (military) was stationed at the now defunct CFB Inuvik.(one of the most Northern parts of NORAD)
Someone from the base would call my dad and tell him that an unknown object was spotted on radar. My dad would make a great show of having to go to work, until the base called back confirming that it was Santa.
This is much more sophisticated!
Merry Christmas to all, and to all a good night!

Seriously, read the article, then check out the website. It is run by volunteers and paid by sponsorship.
If you a Canadian (CFB stands for Canadian Forces Base) taxpayer, and you want to complain that one of my dad's buddies called our house from the base to help keep the magic of Christmas alive in little kids, then I guess that you lead a pretty sad life.
I hope that things get better for you.
