I imagine if this Situation person wants to write about "creeping on chicks" he's very well qualified.

Keith Richards and Patti Smith's are the top and the only ones I'd consider reading.
Steve Martin, James Franco and Jon Stewart's books don't fall under what I consider to be celebrity books. They're by but not about celebrity.

More than half of these books are arguments FOR illiteracy.

Just saw the title of a holiday book by Mike Huckabee, "Can't Wait Till Christmas". REALLY?? Did he not have editors?? Dear Mike, it should be " 'Til " as in "until". TILL is a depository for money.

Publishing is the most corrupt of the entertainment businesses. We know who's singing on a record, starring in a movie, appearing on stage. But most celebrity books are completely ghost-written without acknowledging the true authors. The naive book buyers actually believe their heros or heroines wrote their biographies. If that's not fraud, what is?

When I saw the headline announcing "celebrity" book deals, I was ready to be duly horrified, but I am about 50% less disappointed than I expected, if only because Steve Martin and Patti Smith's books are both great, as is the Daily Show's Earth, and they balance out all the other crap.

The only gaps I'm going to fill with books by the likes of The Situation and Nicole Ritchie are the ones between my house's walls -pulped paper makes great eco-safe housing insulation.

Met him in CT and got my book signed! And gave him a signed copy of my own book - hoping to be a guest on the show this winter. His book was fun, interesting and I had no idea what he'd been through as a kid. Love Gary De''"Abate! Ha-Ha-Happy New Year!

About half of the people on this list are not exactly known for reading (Dubya? Palin? The Situation?) much less writing. Also, it's both telling and somewhat troublesome that an ex-editor of the Harvard Law Review has exclusively produced inspiring, "feel-good" Oprah-esque books about himself and his family, not really about law or politics. Socks Clinton's literary output almost looks solid in comparison.

A massive forest of trees wasted. Okay, Jon Stewart's book may be worth some recycled paper. But that's it!

The state of contemporary literature is a very sad state, indeed.

We are obviously a TV-first society.
