Cynthia Colston Arrested For Calling 911 After Bad Manicure (VIDEO)

First Posted: 12/28/2010 2:01 pm Updated: 05/25/2011 6:20 pm

Florida resident Cynthia Colston found herself in jail after calling 911 multiple times about a bad manicure. Even after watching and rewatching the amusing news report, we're pretty unclear on what the original issue was...her nails were too long? Too short? The nail tech attacked her?

In any case, Colston was not happy with the officers' response, prompting her to call the emergency phone number twice. She actually didn't mean to call it the other two times, but since she was dialing with her knuckles, she accidentally hit redial. And now, we've heard everything.

is this the same woman who called 911 because she couldn't get the chicken nuggets after she paid for them and wouldn't take a substitute?

There are many immigrants in Florida that are not aware of 911 rules. Aren’t these 911 dispatchers a bit paranoia about wrong calls? Do you realize how many people end-up in jail for simply making a phone call by mistake? After all isn’t true that the caller(she) is been taxed/paying for the call. Why do these operators need so much time on hand? It’s to files their nails? AND please spare me from you’re a*s kissing rebuttal.

What makes you think she was an immigrant? Clearly it wasn't a mistake. She called 4 times and even said it was a non-emergency. Did you even watch the video?

Obviously it doesn't matter what the original complaint was, it was inappropriate to call 911, whatever it was!!

Did any of you actually listen to the video? She stated that she was attacked by the nail technician and that an altercation ensued. Why wouldn't she have called 911? I agree that she shouldn't have called as many times as she did. However, I don't fault her for calling in the first place. We've had it etched into our minds since the time we were little that if something were to go wrong, to "dial 911". 911 operators chastise people calling them for non-emergencies, but I have yet to see anything that informs people of who they should call during these situations.

Furthermore, believe it or not, I have both witnessed and been subjected to very hostile behavior in nail salons when I or another customer complained about the service. I once had a nail technician cut me during a pedicure (and of course it drew blood), had the audacity to blame me for it (saying that I was shifty), wanted to bait me into an argument, and didn't even want to give me a discount or anything. Needless to say I didn't go back there, but these types of disputes and "interactions" are commonplace in many nail salons.

I would think calling 911 would be for real emergencies, like accidents, heart attacks, etc. where help is dispatched. It would seem to me if she was able to get to the manicure, get to a phone to call multiple times, she could also get to a police station or call directly to complain. Of course I don't live in Florida. Do they generally send policemen out on house calls such as this, once the immediate danger is passed? She wouldn't have been able to make the calls if someone were threatening her life right there.

True, we know to call 911 when something is wrong, but being ticked at your nail person for giving you fake nails that are too short, and then picking a fight with them over it isn't exactly a matter for 911. Sounds like this customer needs anger management or perhaps a little common sense.

People misuse 911 constantly--I know we've all heard the 911 call by the woman who didn't get bacon on her cheeseburger. Its ridiculous. People need to act like they have the sense God gave them, and there should be strict punishment for people who tie up Emergency resources on this ridiculousness.

I would be interested in hearing the tape of the FIRST call to 911. Why would FAUX news play all the subsequent phone calls and leave out the main call, according to Ms Colston the nail tech attacked her and hit her with nail instruments. Of course she should have called the police instead of 911 but it's interesting how hitting clients with nail instruments isn't a crime but calling 911 is...in this case. Also interesting is how the attack of the nail tech becomes sideswiped as Colston becomes the sole and oh so infamous wrongdoer. Pretty typical.

It is up to her, is it not, to file a complaint against the nail tech? Perhaps it would be better retribution if she made known the exact location of this place so that it adversely affected their business.

Okay, I get it. The purpose of these silly videos is to get us to click on the link and watch the ADVERTISEMENT that plays before the actual story starts.

The advertisement is sold, then a random silly video is dug up to stick on the end of it.

This headline is misleading. It sounds like the woman is claiming that she was attacked by the nail tech, so that is a reason to call 911.

It sounds like she should have been issued a ticket for 911 abuse rather than arrested.

Did she call for an ambulance when they did her eyebrows?
