Why are programs such as the hud voucher being discontinued.
More homeless than I have ever seen in my life -except during the Reagan years when he released the mentally ill.

This is a most commendable solution to the growing homelessness problem in Michigan. It is cost-effective, humane, non-denominational, treats homeless people with dignity and offers them the security from which to untangle other pressing matters. I am sure some will criticize (some will criticize _anything!), but I would be very happy knowing some of my meager state tax dollars were going to programs like these.

"Also, faith-based organizations often require a period of obeying rules before clients can get housing, he said."

It seems that for the faith based, is all about the rules, and not really about the person. The religious can be the most vindictive of all. No forgiveness without some type of punishment first. Even then their forgiveness comes with strings attached.

One of the most vindictive, and I have seen this in six different metropolitan areas in six different states, has been the Salvation Army.

And they get a lot of local, state, and federal money.

That should irritate the GOP governor.

I'm really looking forward to seeing what Snyder comes up with to 'fix' our state. He is a businessman, used to giving orders to employees. How will he handle negotiations with other elected officials and the unions? He is an outsider and politicians doen't like it when outsiders bypass their system to get elected. It will be interesting to watch.

Yep, me too on the looking forward. Not that I'm holding my breath, but it really can't get much worse here, even with a Republican Governor. Perhaps Snyder is enough of an outsider to get that new Detroit-Windsor bridge built before Matty Moroun's cash cow Ambassador falls into the river.
