Android Tablets--Lots Of Them
1 of 8
A new crop of powerful Android tablets could steal the limelight at CES, thanks to the Android 3.0 (aka “Honeycomb”) operating system, which is expected to be "optimized for tablets" and set to launch in the early months of 2011. CNET predicts that Acer, Archos, Asus, Creative, Dell, Entourage, Fusion Garage, LG, Motorola, MSI, Notion Ink, Samsung, Toshiba and ViewSonic will all unveil their latest slates this week. SlashGear is hoping that last year's crowd-pleaser, the never-released Lenovo U1 Hybrid, gets its overdue resurrection.

Are you folks tired of being teased?  Release them already.  They are just trying to make sure they can milk the price of a cheap laptop worth of tablet out of us.  I got news I'm holding on to my money until the market is well flooded and their is too much competition to get customers.

From what I'm told, after CES is finished, a lot of last years models are discounted in price. It's the best time to buy a big screen TV or any other kind of electronics.

Khan Manka, Jr. has just completed his CES keynote address. The movie studios are apparently going on the offensive.

I'm so excited about all these products and I hope that they reasonably work as announced, that they are affordable, and that they can really bring excitements in "ordinary living" (to "enrich life", iow).

If there is a glasses free tv that actually works well it will be ground breaking and might be as big of an impact as color tv's were

I think we'd have to wait for the next leap in display technology. Once the display can construct holographic images on the fly, then we won't need 3-D glasses anymore. Just imagine how well the holographic movies will sell by then, because people have to see the same movie many times, each from a different angle!

Amazing, when will people get the fact that tablets are stript down versions of notebooks. People are mesmorized by these things. Crazy

And as usual, Verizon is introducing 4G phones that won't be available until later this year. Way to go Verizon!

I used to go down to the CES show every year.

It is a whirlwind of excitement and flashing lights and people ( even moreso than usual ) You could walk for days and days and never get to all the marvels that being shown at the diverse stalls.

The odd thing is how adult entertainment is mixed in .You walk down the street to the pavillion and are greeted by a blizzard of people handing you flyers to go to their S_joints...it is rather bizarre..lol

My favourites were always the speaker companies..they had their mobile soundrooms and you could go in a take a listen to your dream sounds of music.

Then there is of course the gambling and fun..lol

sigh, maybe next year :)

I think the Lenovo LePad + U1 Hybrid is great idea to finally combine a tablet and a netbook in a very functional way. It's a tablet that can dock to a keyboard shell, becoming a netbook. This way you can really have the best of both worlds without the need to buy two separate devices.

I think in the near future every appliance will be DNLA home network-compliant. It won't cost much to add this capability, even with those appliances where its usefulness might be limited. Browsing the internet on your washing machine might be stvpid (and I don't think it'll ever be offered), but controlling your washer and dryer from your laptop or remotely from work actually does have merit.

I can think of a couple of reasons a washing machine could be useful if implemented properly a water leak for instance could be detected and alert the owner.

And lets not forget about all the porn on the internet and then add the spinning of the washing machine... nailed it!!
