For 'Country Strong,' Gwyneth Paltrow had to play a heavy drinker. So, of course, she had to make sure to really get into character.
Paltrow, who plays a faded country star that's liberal with her alcohol consumption, appears on 'The Rachel Ray Show' on Friday, said that she did her best to method act for the part:
You just get really drunk all the time. Which is awesome! At least I did anyway, it's not very professional. There's a Bloody Mary at 10 a.m. and keep it going all day! You know, it was actually very liberating and amazing to play somebody who just didn't think about consequences because I'm so responsible with my life and too worried about everybody and my kids and where's everybody going. This character is like total opposite. In a way it was kinda fun, you know? I was sad when it ended because it was nice to play someone who just had no responsibility.
Perhaps that explains why she gained 20 pounds for the role. Paltrow has been doing a different type of drinking of late -- a 21 day juice cleanse that she's promoting.
Tune into 'The Rachel Ray' Show on Friday for much more, including dish on her two kids, Moses and Apple.
