'Ted Haggard: Scandalous' To Debut January 16 On TLC

Ted Haggard Documentary

Disgraced Colorado Springs Pastor Ted Haggard may have scaled back his ambitions to regain his former power and influence, but that doesn't mean he's become averse to the camera.

On January 16, 'Ted Haggard: Scandalous' will debut on The Learning Channel. The documentary will focus on Haggard's fall from grace and his subsequent founding of the St. James Church in Colorado Springs.

Haggard will have no say in the footage used, and says he hasn't seen the documentary.

"I hope it's a resurrection story," Haggard told the Colorado Springs Gazette. "I hope it encourages people to realize that no matter what you are going through, the sun will come up again."

This will be the second cable documentary about Haggard since 2006, when it was discovered that he had solicited sex from a male prostitute. A 2009 HBO Documentary, "The Trials of Ted Haggard," chronicled the hardships of the Haggard family in the wake of his ouster as senior pastor of the conservative New Life Church.
