Michael Douglas On 'Today': Odds Are, I've Beaten Cancer

Michael Douglas: Odds Are, I've Beaten Cancer

Michael Douglas finished cancer treatment in October, and in an interview to air Tuesday morning on 'Today' he says he's optimistic he's beaten the disease.

"The odds are, with the tumor gone and what I know about this particular type of cancer, that I've got it beat," he said.

Michael tells 'Today' that he still has to go in for monthly checks, and his cancer fight has changed how he thinks about life.

"It's put a timeline on my life," he said. "I'm 66 now. You know, I'm fortunate I've got a mother who's 88. She'll kill me. She may be 87. My father's 94. So, you know, I feel good about those genes. But it's definitely a third act. And so you're a little more conscious of your time in how you choose to spend it."

In November Kirk Douglas told ET his son was feeling feisty again and had his appetite back. Michael tells 'Today' he's been "eating like a pig" and working out and has put back on 12 of the 32 pounds he lost.

Michael looked happy and healthier in Disney World with his family over Thanksgiving.
