Claim to Fame: She and her family founded two museums dedicated to preserving Antigua's heritage and also helped save her favorite beach from being developed. It is now a part of the national parks system.

Favorite Beach: Pigeon Point: It's the only beach where you will see everyone from yachties to locals.

I grew up close to Fort James (left the island almost 40 yrs ago), I can still recall walking to the beach with friends on weekends.

Love this post! The amazing thing is that I know many of these people personally. Tony, you're looking great! I would have added Hawksbill Beach to the mix, and the beach around the corner that Google Maps calls Pinching Bay. On that point between the two beaches is a rocky point with a natural indentation in the rock formation like a hot tub made by God, :-)

It is Wadadli Cats, not Wadadi Cats. Not only can you see this by clicking the sight but I have been sailing on one and piloted by the owner. Fantastic. The sail was a circumnavigate the island and along the way, on the Atlantic side he pulled into a beach only he would know about, with its own shipwreck. And Wadadli is the name of their famous beer - Wadadli Beer and I have the T-shirt that says so.

You're right, it is Wadadli. It's what some of the natives call Antigua as well.

Anguilla has plenty of fine beaches.
If you go, I recommend:
Sandy Island, off Road Bay
Scilly Cay, off Island Harbour.(especially this one - expensive but memorable)
