Tucson Shooting House

WASHINGTON — The House plans to vote Wednesday to condemn "in the strongest possible terms" the shootings in Arizona that killed six people and gravely wounded a congresswoman.

The proposed resolution extends condolences to the victims and their families, praises the emergency responders and expresses hopes that the injured will recover. The House originally had planned to vote Wednesday on the divisive question of repealing last year's overhaul of the nation's health care system.

Democratic Rep. Gabrielle Giffords remains hospitalized after a gunman shot her in the head at an outdoor event in Tucson. An aide to Giffords and five bystanders died in shooting rampage.

They need to condemn the tasteless bumper sticker labeling that they use to describe their opponents and legislation. Phrases like 'job killing' and 'death panels' are emotive terms and lacks class.

If he is mentally insane and this should be all about mental health services as David Frum and others say, what is there to condemn? The incoherent behavior of an insane person? Or does Frum and company have it wrong?

Immediately following this chilling vote, House Members plan to condemn Forever Stamps, the new overtime rules in playoff football, and North Korea.
On a more serious note, maybe it's time to stop the Constitution-reading antics and the "we stamp this tragedy 'tragic'" frenzy, and do some real work. It's no wonder Congress holds about a twenty percent approval rating in recent times.

Unless the House resolution pledges civility for all of its members, this is like condemning hurricanes.

Does the House also plan to condemn those that egged him on?

Condemn, posture, and go right back to the same divisive rhetoric that inflames passions and encourages the fringe elements to take action. Actions speak louder than words. If they truly condemn such acts they would start acting with civility instead of mongering fear.

Although it's a nice gesture, along with a resolution condemning the shooting, oh I dunno, maybe they should revisit gun laws to make it more difficult for wingnuts to get guns... You would think that this would be the impetus to try and figure out common sense ideas... but since the Republican Party is in the pocket of the NRA.. that ain't going to happen.
