Australia's third largest city, Brisbane, has been consumed by floods in recent days, as has the state of Queensland.

The problem has been recurring for that part of Australia, with 22 dying in floods since November. The Brisbane River is expected to reach its height on Thursday, at a depth slightly lower than that of 1974 floods that swept the city, the AP reports.

See photos of the floods in Brisbane and elsewhere in Queensland below:

Wide spread flood water across South-East Queensland, Australia, Wednesday, Jan. 12, 2011. Deadly floodwaters that have cut a swath across northeastern Australia flowed onto the streets of Brisbane, the nation's third-largest city, forcing people to flee suburbs and skyscrapers. (AP Photo)

I'm sad that bad weather appears here and there.I hope my article helps.

Long time ago,a lot of area on the earth like The South Pole, the North Pole, tops of big mountains are covered by ice and snow.Infact cold places like these area are easy to catch steam.A big part of steam was distributed to these area every year.

But the condition changed now.Greenhouse gases covers the globe.Plenty of ice even from thousands of years ago dissolved. The acreage covered by ice in these area is geting small. Also the temperature in the place with ice and snow raised up.So the power of catching steam really changed weak .A big part of steam is cut down from these place. And we know that normally the earth gets same quantity steam every year. And steam has to land to the surface of the earth.

Finally,we get the reason that we get so many bad weather recently, huge steam land to the surface of the earth.Huge rain, huge snow.Temperature drops by a big margin.

Fortunately, ozone layer doesn't take part in convection, ozone layer can keep warm.Greenhouse gases takes part in convection. Greenhouse gases also can make the earth cooling.Their effect from another sides cause helpful. When the sun light is powerful to us ,Greenhouse gases brings even hotter. When the sun light is not powerful to us ,Greenhouse gases brings even colder. That's a contradiction.

The system of the climate changed on the earth.Reply.

I think that's basically correct, but "moisture" would be a better word than "steam".

I think the earth is trying to create another rain forest in absence of another.

Oh,we should be strong. Also,I thinkThe system of the climate changed on the earth

Long time ago,a lot of area on the earth like The South Pole, the North Pole, tops of big mountains are covered by ice and snow.Infact cold places like these area are easy to catch steam.A big part of steam was distributed to these area every year. So this area get snow all the year round.

But the condition changed now.Plenty of ice even from thousands of years ago thawed. The conditions in these area is changing slowly like any other place. So the power of catching steam really changed small till like any other normal place. And we know that the earth gets steam every day, every month, every year. And normally it gets same quantity steam every year. And steam cann’t always be in the sky, it has to land to the surface of the earth..

Finally,we get the reason that we get so many bad weather recently, huge steam land to the surface of the earth.Huge rain, huge snow.Temperature drops by a big margin.

This condition will be continued many years in the future. So the system of the climate changed on the earth.

Well,we have to do something to protect our environment now.

It's now 3/4 of Queensland. There's also flooding in New South Wales and Victoria. It's terrible. What's good to see is Aussies getting stuck in and cleaning up the mess. Pretty much everyone seems to have taken it with a good spirit, excepting the Insurance companies, but the clean up in Brisbane looks to be going ahead fast.

Go you banana-benders!

Today I had a chance to drive around town and capture some photographs of the floodwaters in Kangaroo Point, the University of Queensland and West End. My slide-show is after the link:

What impressed me the most was the speed of the water in this normally docile river. From the bridge I could see many water swirls that hinted at the forces under the surface.

I wonder about crocs and poisonous snakes for which Australia is famous. Are they spreading all over the place as the waters spread?

There was a report of a bull-shark in Ipswich, a suburb west of Brisbane but that was an isolated incident. Maybe the water is too muddy and violent for most large creatures at this stage.

Queensland has been in the grip of its worst flooding for more than "two weeks" ... two weeks? Two decades possibly? Alert the AP foreign desk. 1974 I think it was ....

Bad wording; they mean the current flood's been going more than two weeks; it's the worst in more than two decades.

This is horrible. My thoughts are with Australians.

When the province I live in suffered its worst flooding (see the flodding of '97) people were there for us. I hope that we can also help those in Australia, and countless others people have helped in light of crises.
