Chris Christie Responds To Rudy Giuliani's 'Peanut Gallery' Criticism Of Disney World Vacation (VIDEO)

Chris Christie Rudy Giuliani

New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie (R) shot back Wednesday against recent comments by former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani about his decision to remain on vacation in Disney World while his state was reeling from a massive snowfall.

"Listen, Rudy is wrong on this one," Christie said on MSNBC's "Morning Joe." "You know, I like Rudy a lot, too, but it's easy to sit in the peanut gallery and shoot away, which is what Rudy's doing."

Christie then jabbed Giuliani over his current absence from the political mainstage.

"I guess when you're retired and out of politics, it's easy to come on these shows and shoot away," he said.

Last week, Giuliani appeared on "Morning Joe" and criticized Christie for not returning back to New Jersey during the aftermath of the massive blizzard that struck the east coast last month.

"Chris should've come back," Giuliani said. "I mean, if he asked me my advice, I would've said, 'They elected you governor, they've got an emergency, they expect you to be there.'"

Giuliani added, "You know, you've got to be there if you're a governor, a mayor, or even a president, if it's important enough."

The Chris Christie bandwagon may have hit a speed bump - at least a small one - based on results from two new polls released today.

The Quinnipiac survey shows Christie with a 46 percent job approval rating, with 44 percent disapproving. That's down from his 51 percent approval rating last month. He also now holds a net negative rating on education, with 45 percent approving and 49 percent  Read More...

Hey, Bloomberg did a great job in New York city because he was there on the job, and that makes the difference. By the way, did Bloomberg also use his teleconferencing computer and cell phone to assess the lack of union maintenance people refusing to plow the streets? My guess is that Christie is quite capable of handling a complex problem like a snowstorm just fine using his personal communications capability.

After reviewing some of the inaugural addresses by the different Governors across the Nation, it looks like the New Jersey Plan of fiscal responsibility has taken hold. Even the Democratic Cuomo of NY & Brown of CA are singing the Christie tune.

In a year will see NY & CA crawl out of their financial debt thanks in part to following the NJ Plan.. While the Quinn Plan of tax & spend puts Illinois on the brink of needing a Federal bail-out.

Giuliani is right.

Sure, even if Christie had stayed in NJ the snow would have fallen and the cleanup would have taken place at its own pace but the issue here is appearances. It just doesn't appear to be correct for the governor of a state that is being inundated with one of the largest snowfalls in the state's history to be frolicking at Disney World.

Bad job Chris.

Chris Christie shifted much of the state debt onto local townships and counties to give the illusion that he's cut taxes at the state level. Well, technically he did - at the state level.

NJ Biz today just published that local NJ taxes went up an average of 7% this past year!

Now, what you have are a bunch of seniors, military and disabled picking up the tab for taxes they had abated at the state level, but now are in effect at the local level. The taxes on the seniors just went up - like everybody else's.

Christie Whitman did the same thing. See, I cut state spending. It didn't take long for the folks to figure that out.

Local taxes go up because municipalities continue to spend without addressing their revenue shortfalls. The Federal Government enacts laws all the time, that puts the burden of paying for carrying out the enforcement on the States. I just thought you'd like to clear up a few things you conveniently left  out of your comments. Your welcome.

Guiliani is only coming from the position of someone who likes to take credit for what others did. It's not truly about being there for someone as if you care. It's more about being there so you can look good in the future. It looks good on Christie if he found his way back to NJ immediately. But, seriously, what else was he going to do that he couldn't handle over the phone or even through a video conference. I'm not defending the guy. I'm just defining Guiliani's position in case any one else was thinking the clown had a heart. Don't confuse marketing with duty, in this case.

If the Dems are so scared the best that they can do is attack someone for a holiday vacation with their family, I guess they have little confidence with their OWN leader 2 years before the next election. That's pretty telling about their lack of faith. Fear will cause abnormal behavior, their proving it. I love it!

Last I heard Rudy wasn't a Democrat. Frankly I could have cared less if Christy went to DisneyWorld, Dollyland or Knotts Berry Farm. He, like tons of others, is entitled to vacation with his family. It's the optics that look bad....and I live in Connecticut -- our governor was here in the state when the big snow came.

"or EVEN a president?" That sounds like Giuliani thinks the mayorship is more important than the presidency!
