First Posted: 01/12/11 03:12 PM ET Updated: 05/25/11 07:25 PM ET

The New York Islanders took their Tuesday night game against the Vancouver Canucks into a shootout. When it was time for Vancouver's Mason Raymond to shoot, the Canucks winger made a fancy move to fool the goalie and scored. He skated to his right and faked out the goalie with an unbelievable spin move that he made look easy. Raymond showered goalie Kevin Poulin with ice and scored with a backhand shot. The Canucks won the game after Ryan Kesler's goal and Vancouver earned points for the 17th straight game. Scroll down to watch the video.

Even with highlights like these, I still would rather have a tie.

You can be 10-0-72 and make the playoffs.

Born and raised in Beautiful British Columbia, I've got to say it hasn't always been easy to be a Canucks fan. But you stick with 'em. This year has been pretty sweet. The team is tight, has great depth and they're playing with confidence.

Now if we can just get past bloody Chicago in the second round...

Sorry but I don't think it's going to happen! Great series though.

This was totally legal. NHL rule 24 is the rule governing shots in the shootout referenced in Rule 84 says:
"The spin-o-rama type move where the player completes a 360° turn as he approaches the goal, shall be permitted as this involves continuous motion."

Shouldn't be a goal! Btw, go Flyers.

Did HP hire a new Sports blogger? Suddenly there has been 3 positive Hockey articles in a row. That is a record.

Already done by Jeremy Roenick.

why this play stood as legal is beyond me. the NHL really needs to look into these types of penalty shots. his forward momentum had stopped, rendering it a dead play.

I was just thinking that. Doesn't seem legal? Forward momentum halted.

I highly doubt Gary Bettman has any understanding of any of the rules regarding the NHL. As long as NASCAR and the NHL come a little bit closer together he is happy.
