The Grammy awards are a joke.

You get to see the artists perform live! What's wrong with that? Most award shows are boring but if I had to watch any of them it would be the Grammys!

Just because you dont appreciate the music doesnt mean they arent talented. The only talentless person that performed tonight was Gweneth Paltrow. She ruined the very talented Cee-Lo Green's performance, but aside from that your just so so wrong. I guess your just too sophisticated...

I read there's a special tribute tonight to Aretha and she is supposed to be there. How I'd love to see Jennifer Hudson singing Aretha but I doubt if we will. Whatever... I'm just glad Aretha is still with us and not on death's door as was rumored.

Have you heard this version of "Little Lion Man"?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5HHnDEnsdno
08:27 PM on 02/13/2011
yes, i have actually, but i do appreciate the link. the more people that can hear them imo and the more exposure they get the better. they totally deserve it.
the way i originally heard of them was on "a different spin with mark hoppus" on which they just showed a few seconds of little lion man. I could hear the intensity instantly and was immediately inclined to search all over youtube and listen to as much of them as i could possibly find. i scoured it. i then went out the next day and got the album. :) I don't do that often either. There isn't much in the way of modern music coming out that impresses me the was M&S did. Every track is impressive. The talent in this band is off the chart.
Sorry for babbling on. haha. It's just not that often imo that really good music gets the recognition it deserves.
Anybody reading this that cares, check out the link BigFootJesus posted.

The Arcade Fire's album is the only actual MUSIC nominated this year.

The Grammy's are not about music anymore - it's about album sales.

What about Band of Horses and Switchfoot. Both great bands and true musicians to me.

What about Mumford and Sons? They're awesome

Artists I'd like to see performing at the Grammy Awards:
Taj Mahal
Los Lobos
The Black Keys
Lucinda Williams
Bettye LaVette
Mavis Staples
Sharon Jones & the Dap-Kings
PJ Harvey
Wynton Marsalis
Herbie Hancock
Chick Corea

I feel your sentaments. "Reel-Good" music isn't represented in "these" shows.

Monie$ i$!!!

But then again, I witnessed Wynton Marsalis play with Art Blakely,
at "Baker's Keyboard Lounge" (in Detroit)
when I was eleven years old.

That beats any Grammy performance for me.
Not to mention. "Los Lobos" and PJ Harvey
often played the "D" in my "formative" years.

What a terrific list.
I didn't even know folks still listen to those great Taj Mahal albums anymore.
Been a fan of his since I was 15.
And what can I say about Lucinda?
Her voice is absolutely perfect and her writing scalds and astonishes.
Can't believe the Black Keys aren't getting an award for their brilliant new album recorded in Muscle Shoals.
Nice to see Mavis Staples & Bettye LaVette mentioned as well.

If there was an award for marketing to teens, it would go hands down to Bieber and his mentor, Usher! The entire marketing of that kid was to tweens and those kids flood his concerts and buy his records. I'm now seeing boys with that damned haircut of his! GAD!

what? how did the combination come to be?
06:36 PM on 02/13/2011
I heard the Grammy producer interviewed on NPR - said they wanted to team Dylan with some new groups he had influenced. He called Dylan and got an agreement. Supposedly it's the Mumfords and some other band. Could be rather cool.

With all the money she makes, why doesn't Katy Perry get herself some singing lessons?
