As one of the most powerful leaders in the Civil Rights Movement, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. fought for justice, empowerment, peace and much more. On Monday, people throughout the country have committed to days of service to honor Dr. King's legacy.

This year marks the 25th anniversary of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day as a federal holiday, and Chicago has several volunteer and educational opportunities available. Check them out here, and

Chicago Public Library Celebrates Martin Luther King, Jr.

The West Town Chicago Public Library will host a program for families with children 3 to 10 years old and teach them Dr. King's legacy through literacy activities.
