Huck Going To Sarah's Turf

First Posted: 01/14/11 11:24 AM ET Updated: 05/25/11 07:25 PM ET

WASHINGTON -- Move over Sarah Palin, the mythic land of Alaska is getting some attention from another would-be Republican contender.

If former Arkansas governor Mike Huckabee hopes to win the GOP nomination in 2012, he's going to have to woo some of Palin's fans, so he's made a logical move.

He's starring in a weeklong "Christian-based" cruise along the Alaskan coast this summer.

Alaskan cruises are already famous in the recent history of conservatism.

It was on two successive cruises in the summer of 2007 that the leading pundits and editors of the right -- Bill Kristol, Fred Barnes and Rich Lowry, to name three -- met Palin, then the governor of Alaska, when their ships docked at the state capital of Juneau.

They liked what they saw and heard, and their favorable impression helped her get the vice presidential nomination in 2008.

Now Huckabee is headed north, only in his case he will be trying to bring his admirers with him. He may hope to find more in stops along the way, but, by accident or design, his cruise won't be getting anywhere close to Anchorage or Wasilla.

From June 5 to June 12, he'll be aboard the Sapphire Princess on an "Alaska Freedom Cruise," stopping at Ketchikan, Tracy Arm Fjord, Juneau and Skagway.

"It took more time than I thought to work out all the details," gospel-music promoter Frank Arnold wrote in announcing the trip, "but it definitely worth the wait." "Not only is there an incredible lineup of Christian artists," he said, "but our guest host for the entire cruise" is Huckabee.

Explaining the rationale for his "Paradise Tours and Travel" company, Arnold wrote:

"It's no secret that The Church is getting attacked on a daily basis by the Secular Progressive Movement. And as Christians, we know that it has to happen for prophesy to be fulfilled. At Paradise Tours and Travel, our passion is to educate and empower God's army against the onslaught of the Enemy."

Huckabee announced the trip late Thursday night in a tweet to his Twitter followers. Calls and emails to Huckabee's office and to his aides in Little Rock were not immediately returned.

But it is highly unlikely that he would get a chance to sit down with his fellow Fox contributor Palin. Her home in Wasilla is more than 500 miles from the cruise's closest port of call.

The church is getting attacked?  Their "church" is doing the attacking, and they daily attack the school teachers, firefighters, policemen, and those "elite" government workers that are our neighbors and friends!  They are attacking anyone who doesn't agree with them as evil -- and what they'd better figure out is that these people are the real Americans!  They constantly tell 95% of us that  Read More...

EPILOGUE
The fact is that if Christians were true to their beliefs and values embedded within the Bible on how we are to treat our fellow man, they would realize that it has long been the liberal belief system of values that serves to bring greater equality to the game of life and restore human dignity to helping the poor and disenfranchised in our society who have to struggle through greater hardships as the surplus labor they create is stripped away to line the coffers of the Capitalist class in our society giving them greater comforts. To support a political Capitalist class of Republicans who therefore serve only unto themselves and greater material wealth off the backs of the labor force of this country is tantamount to hypocrisy of the highest order that fails to serve the dignity and humanity of the human race.

Still you seem so narrow minded but Ok. Some Christians are hypocrites and your side is what?

PART III
That money made off the backs of surplus labor primarily in the United States and third world countries during the second half of the 20th century was thus invested in Asia to again subsidize their workforce into slaves for the corporate capitalist class and a built in design flaw that demands money continue to be invested in surplus labor for profit to fuel economic growth at the expense of inherent inequality and thus class struggle, which has already begun in China evidenced by recent strikes.

And you can include the current administrations deficit spending. Interest is money to Asia too.

actually I am too much of an iconoclastic person to ever allow myself to be attached to any group of philosophical positions other than seeing myself as one small entity of life that exists in the vast realm of the universe and therefore a grain of sand not bound by any person, place or thing..

PART II
I am old enough to remember a time when the politics in this country was essentially drawn between those who wore white shirts to work with pencils in their ears and those who wore blue collars.
Capital versus labor; where Capitalism has indeed raised the standard of living for the US and now the Asian community, at a cost to mankind and the health of the planets life systems we won’t be able to sustain and ultimately survive as a species, where the same exploitative Capitalist economic policies to cultivate human and resource capital into cookie cut little consumers of serving the interests of self, and supporting a conceptual framework of human activity that governs every human activity designed to make the capitalist class rich while the labor class is in a perpetual state of struggle to maintain a dignified standard of living.

This is not different then the Democratic idea of the average citizen.

PART 1
By chance, I happened to sit in on a Republican strategy meeting when I was visiting my Father in Andersen South Carolina back in the mid 1980's & w/o writing a book to explain how the watch works, the long and short of it; combined with the roots of the Christian Coalition as the sham front organization for the right wing think tank, put together a set of organizing principles to lock up the Bible belt in this country's ballot box

Thus they tweaked their campaign messages much as a Sheppard would of their sheep.
At its core, the right leaning party has always been funded and backed by the same oligarchy ruling class corporate money interests of this country.

Wait, the Enemy? Who is that? Anyone who disagrees with them? Or those who believe in separation of Church and State? What a poor choice of words.

Can the same claim be made against the Atheists? I think it can.

conservatism = "low-effort" thinking.
01:57 AM on 01/17/2011
I know huck and arnold wouldn't pay any attention. They have a truth deficit that they have no interest in fixing, but here goes.

George Washington: "The United States is in no sense founded upon Christian Doctrine"

Thomas Jefferson: The day will come when the mystical generation of Jesus, by the Supreme Being as his Father, in the womb of a virgin, will be classified with the fable of the generation of Minerva in the brain of Jupiter. But we may hope that the dawn of reason and the freedom of thought in these United States will do away with this artificial scaffolding, and restore to us the primitive and genuine doctrines of this most venerated Reformer of human errors.

James Madison: During almost fifteen centuries the legal establishment known as Christianity has been on trial, and what have been the fruits, more or less, in all places? These are the fruits: pride, indolence, ignorance, and arrogance in the clergy. Ignorance, arrogance, and servility in the laity, and in both clergy and laity, superstition, bigotry, and persecution.

Thomas Jefferson: I do not find in orthodox Christianity one redeeming feature.
Abraham Lincoln: The Bible is not my Book and Christianity is not my religion. I could never give assent to the long complicated statements of Christian dogma.

Mikeeee The Bible: Because all the works of science cannot equal the wisdom of cattle-sacrificing primitives who thought every animal species in the world lived within walking distance of Noah’s house.

These "christians" don't love their country, they only love people who think exactly like them--no individuality, no critical thinking, no goodness in their hearts. I am a good American Progressive Woman and I know that as far as being righteous, they couldn't make a patch on my behind.
