Rex Ryan Sprints Down Sideline During Shonn Greene's Touchdown Run (VIDEO)

First Posted: 01/17/11 02:17 AM ET Updated: 05/25/11 07:25 PM ET

The New York Jets finished off the New England Patriots with Shonn Greene's 16-yard touchdown run late in the fourth quarter. It extended their lead to 28-14 and sent the Jets sideline into a frenzy, particularly Rex Ryan. The Jets coach started sprinting down the sideline once he saw that nobody on the Patriots defense was going to stop Greene. He ran all the way to the end zone to celebrate with his players, who were given a 15-yard penalty for unsportsmanlike conduct at the end of the play. Scroll down to watch the video.

I think "lumbering" is a better word to describe it than "dashing".

There's a new Sheriff in town. Young, brash, trash talking and very physical. Don't ignore what you see because you will be looking at it for the next 3 years.

Give the Jets and Ryan credit for believing when few did and for getting it done. This is the new face of the NFL, in your face, aggressive smashmouth football. And it's just the beginning.

He said he fell during the week and was hurt, but I don't think he would run much better if he hadn't.

Excited and emotion and yes a violation. At the end of the day he had reason to be happy. Appears to me he took a hapless franchise, gave them character, excited the fans and turned the team into one that is highly competitive. I suspect there are plenty of teams that would bid for his services if they became available.

"Dashes?" ... Rex is running as if his wife gave him a good toe sucking.

Incidentally I can't believe their "excessive celebration" penalty cost them as many yards as a blatant facemask. I guess the rule makers at the NFL think pretending to sleep on the football is as harmful to the opposing team as violently yanking their head and neck around.

I said pretty much the same thing as we were watching the game yesterday. Apparently the Ickey Shuffle damaged a lot of people....
