UPDATE II: A rep from Lambert's record company, XIX Entertainment, issued a statement clarifying Lambert's remarks (via The Hollywood Reporter): "Alex is not homeless. He's been crashing on friends' couches while looking for an apartment, but he's getting a retainer and working on [new music] demos."

PREVIOUSLY:

This is not the 'American Idol' dream.

Season nine finalist Alex Lambert, just 20-years old and starring in Simon Fuller's post-Idol web show 'If I Can Dream,' is now homeless, living on the streets of Los Angeles.

Lambert has been tweeting his dilemma, sending out a series of messages about both his despair and hope.

"Ever since IICD ended I've been kinda homless! Sleepin on the street and behind buildings.I have a choice to stay and persue my career or go back to texas and not do music! I'm usually a strong person but I can't take it anymore," he tweeted on Tuesday.

He continued:

I've been goin to coffee shops and other stores so I can tweet to my snaf! Because to be honest! You guys are all I really have!

I'm a poor boy yall! Never had nothin in my life. please be greatful for everything you have. Because there's people out there with nothing!

There's no way i'll ever stop making music as long as i live.. I didn't mean it like that! I just want yall to know the truth!

Here's Lambert's official fansite. It talks of photo shoots and upcoming projects. He also appeared in November on the VH1 show 'Don't Forget the Lyrics,' and has performed in various fundraisers.

Watch Lambert sing his song, 'Dream With My Eyes Open.'

Just as predicted - huge publicity stunt!

With the kind of fans that Alex attracts, people who love to bully others who don't share their opinion, it's no surprise that he's pulling stunts like this to get new ones. He did mention in one tweet that he needed 100,000 followers or he'd be dropped by his label if he only sold 20,000 cds. He has an aunt who lives in LA, does staying with a relative count as being homeless??? And how come out of all of the people who were on IICD he is the only one who didn't get a job or sort out a place to live?

Here's what a one of his fans wrote on the fansite when I wrote something similar there:

Geez, sorry I didn’t get to see Jessica’s post, so I could find her and punch her right in the face! Some people just need a punch in the face. There’s no cure for these people…other than a punch in the face. LOL! ''

I had to come back to confirm that this was a publicity stunt.

If you don't rock, STOP.

If you ROCK, you don't need a STUNT.
AND - don't stop ROCKING.

Crashing on people's sofas makes you homeless.

You would think he could get some gigs just from people mixing him up with the other American Idol named Lambert!

Adam Lambert created his own unique personality and he's actually talented, Alex is a talentless clone.

Sounds like some mental health counseling wouldn't hurt.

This seems to be an example of why not to have a Twitter a account. Alex, shut it down, STAT! I'm not sure he should be punished at his age for having a voice that is better than his judgment.

By the way, if a person is crashing on couches without a permanent place to live, he is homeless.

Sadly the world already has one Justin Beiber and we certainly don't need another one. The problem with this child is that he's an imitator not an innovator. His auto-tuned sound is derivative, designed to appeal to little girls and that market is already at capacity as little girls have a very short attention span and limited funds for supporting just one or two of these "performers." Remember Hanson? And look at what happened to those "what's their name" brothers. As soon as the hormones kick in the little girls wander off to someone with less facial hair.

Hanson's actually still making music, and shockingly decent music at that. They actually self released and album that's one of the most successful self release in history. They hit big on the Billboard Indie charts. Than again, they were kind of different from the rest of the boy bands during that stage, in that they actually were a band and had talent beyond being auto tuned.

How much did XIX Entertainment pay HP to run this story. That is the question.

I never heard him before. He sings really well, and I hope he can be successful using his talents. For me, the down home "Ya.al" "back home southern" tweets don't fit the contemporay urbanish style put on during the recording session, making something seem like a put-on....like is he the one thing or is he the other. But of course, there are big cities in Texas, so maybe his Southern-Uban mix is for real...I am not one to say.

We are giving young people the wrong message about what it takes to succeed. They feel as if they made it through a few weeks on a reality show then they should be rich. They do not understand the true riches comes from the experiences of the journey and not from reaching the desitination.

It amazes me the comments, if he is homeless rather then question how he is asking/informing of his need for basic human needs help lets help and then move on. If someone is homeless they still have a voice ie public institutions even if those are full of barriers. Once again people blame someome for not managing themselves well yet how many here give everything and relocated their live thousands of miles away to attempt to make something of themselves in Capital America and in LA of all places.

Why is this newsworthy?
He mismanaged his fame and ist still tweeting. Tough luck.
There are some really badly off people out there who've been homeless for years and decades.
No one puts them in the news.
