Jets Celebrate

First Posted: 01/18/11 08:47 AM ET Updated: 05/25/11 07:25 PM ET

Immediately after the New York Jets beat the New England Patriots to advance to the AFC championship game, Jets players reportedly partied all night in New York City.

According to the New York Post, Mark Sanchez, kicker Nick Folk, Braylon Edwards, Darrelle Revis, tight end Dustin Keller and defensive end Shaun Ellis went to SushiSamba park at about 1 a.m. and partied with "sushi, tequila and magnums of Champagne."

Sanchez was reportedly "the last one to leave around 3:30 a.m," while Edwards and Revis continued at Juliet Supper Club in Chelsea with 20 friends.

A witness told Page Six that Edwards "got on the mike and led the crowd to chant "J-E-T-S! Jets! Jets! Jets!"

The Jets completely deserve to celebrate before the Steelers kick their butts.

Nothing more than a well deserved celebration resulting from a well played game

So a couple of guys when for Sushi and Champagne. They all went home by 3:30 and they had no practice the next day---big deal. This doesn't seem like "parting all night" to me. No fights, no arrests, seems like this is a little overblow

win a super bowl then you can act like this, you still have two more team to get through or do you forget about last year?

Nothing helps me recover from a grueling workout like staying up all night drinking.

Abaybay (post 3:06 PM) knows the score. The Jets exuberance over their win Sunday is out of proportion given the task before them. It doesn't bode well, unless you're a Steelers fan.

It's the flip side of the same coin that marked another New York team 42 years ago.

In '69, the underdog's underdog NY Mets shocked the world by winning the World Series. The heavily favored Baltimore Orioles did win the first game, however, and wildly celebrated after the last out. No one disputed the Orioles were a great team, least of all the Mets themselves. So as they watched the celebration, it occurred to them that the Orioles were a bit too happy. After all, it was only the first of a seven game series. It meant that in their heart-of-hearts, Baltimore held them in greater esteem than they had assumed. It served to bolster their confidence, and they whipped the Birds in (6?) games.

The Jets undoubtedly realize that Pittsburgh is an extremely formidable opponent. In their minds, that is. In their hearts, I tend to believe they feel they've already won their biggest game of the season. That said, I could well be mistaken. We'll fight out Sunday.

Meanwhile the Steeler's watch little, speak less, practice hard, behave as adult professional athletes, and wait . . .

well that is what the patriots did...and look where it got them. but i sure as heck hope the steelers walk all over them, esp seeing how they have acted since winning over my patriots.

As a life long Jet fan, just when I thought, that just maybe, maybe we had a chance to get back into a Super Bowl after 42 years I have to read this. The only bowl the Jets will see is the porcelain one. Don't these guys realize they are playing the Steelers on Sunday. The Steelers will force that tequila out of them..

Sushi and champagne sounds so good to celebrate with. Poppin bottles and Spicy Salmon all night? Hell yeah.

Still, I don't see any stories about the Steelers going nuts on Saturday...
