Jon Gosselin Gets A Regular Job

UPDATE: Jon has already quit his new job, according to reports.

PREVIOUSLY: His ex-wife may make $250,000 per episode of 'Kate Plus 8,' but Jon Gosselin has found a regular job in sales marketing, Life & Style reports. In 2009, Jon said he wanted a 9-to-5 job, and now it looks like his dream has come true.

Jon has been trying, unsuccessfully, to stop TLC from filming his children, who he says have been experiencing behavior problems from having to work constantly.

Life & Style's press release follows:

Reality star Jon Gosselin is swapping TV stardom for your typical 9-to-5 gig. "Jon's working for Global Green Property Services," which helps properties become more environmentally friendly, an insider tells Life & Style. "He's doing sales marketing, which means he goes out to companies or cold-calls them and tries to get them to use Global Green. It's a modest job - he doesn't get a huge salary." While Jon, 33, is making the rounds in Pennsylvania to help earn cash for his eight kids, his ex-wife, Kate Gosselin, is earning money through her reality show with the kids . "Jon doesn't long for fame at all," says the insider to Life & Style. "He's much more content blending in and being able to live his life without the world watching."

MILLIONS of people out of work today, and this yay-hoo gets a 9 to 5 gig like he's the best candidate out of millions? "Cold calling" isn't exactly staying out of the limelight. Now he's a door-to-door salesman, his pitch is "As you can see, I got scre**d over by my ex. If you don't buy my products, 8 children will go hungry." Like takin candy from a baby.

It does not change the fact that she is horrendous, and cares more about fame than she does her children. Her twenty seconds should have been over long, long ago. But i imagine we'd agree on more relevant issues in general.

Good for Jon. I hope he can get the kids taken of tv one of these days. And I don't understand why he's paying any child support. His ex-wife is the one with the bigger paycheck, so she should be paying him the child support. If the situation were reversed and he were the one with the huge paycheck and the wife had the small paycheck, the man would be ordered to pay her support. And frankly, the it seems like the only reason Kate Gosselin is getting the bigger paycheck is because she buddied up with TLC and got the show for herself and all the money associated with. It seems to me, while the show is on, the money should go to the kids (in trust) and then split between the two parents. That would be the fair thing to do.

He's paying child support because the kids live with Kate. Child support is about providing for the kids and if one parent is taking care of the kids expenses the other parent, no matter the income difference, has to contribute to those expenses.

This isn't a gender thing, this is a "who is the primary custodial parent" thing. You clearly have no concept of how child support or money between exes work. And splitting the kids TLC money between both of the parents make no sense whatsoever.

Yes, but Kate may be the "primary custodial parent" in large part because she is a woman and also because she has better lawyers supported by TLC. Many couples have a joint custody arrangement. Jon was always showed to be quite involved with his children on the show, so he probably should've gotten joint custody if he had proper legal representation.

Additionally, when I said that if the genders were reversed in this situation, Jon would have to pay Kate support, I wasn't necessarily talking about child support. In divorce cases, the wealthier spouse often has to pay alimony and depending the type of state it is, some kind of marital property settlement (e.g., community property states, etc.). Additionally, when a couple has a joint business endeavor or one spouse helped the other launch their career/business, in some states that spouse is entitled to a portion of the other spouses' earnings/future business. Thus, in some states, Jon might also be entitled to a portion of Kate's future earnings from TLC and all the other endeavors that were really a product of their "family business". People never seem to bat an eye when less affluent women are awarded these types of settements in divorces. I think John, if he had had proper legal services, deserved the same type of settlement. And frankly after watching Kate berate him for several years on tv, he deserved a more decent settlement than he apparently got.

I wonder how long Jon was working there before he quit. I see he used his kids as an excuse of why he couldn't work there any longer. Jon's never paid a dime in child support, if he was that concerned about his kids, you'd think he'd try to hold onto any job he could get.

Glad to hear that Jon has settled down to a normal life ! And I didn't think the Kate+8 show was still being shown ! I stopped watching it because I thought the kids had gotten too bratty ! They seemed somewhat spoiled, and I just couldn't take Kate and her accompanying, body guard at all ! But given time, I hope everything settles down for the children's sakes. Every child needs a normal home life !
