Gmail Problems: Users Report Slow Service

Google recently boasted that Gmail was available 99.9% of the time. Did they speak to soon?

Although Gmail is up and running, numerous users are complaining that the email service is uncharacteristically slow.

Twitter is full of complaints from Gmail users who have noted sluggish performance from Google's webmail service.

"Gmail may have 99.99% uptime but that doesn't factor in how MADDENINGLY slow and unresponsive it can be :(," tweeted @CodingHorror. @Htmiguel asked, "Why is gmail sucking lately. Anyone experiencing really slow service?"

So far, no outages or issues have been noted on Google's App Status Dashboard. Follow the tweets below for more updates on Gmail's status.

GMAIL has been SUCKING lately--we use it to host our business email, and the speed is UNACCEPTABLE!! GOOGLE, please fix or we're going to have to abandon it! Last week we experienced over an hour for internal replies to one another!

Terrible, terrible service for at least a month now. Constant "Still working" messages and often unable to send mail or even open Gmail. Really frustrating.

Agree ... it's been at least a month. Thought it was my issue, but it's the same at work or home, and I'm not using anything new browser-wise ... equally sluggish on Chrome or Firefox, and it's definitely not my experience w/Gmail (at least 5 yrs). As for another poster's confusion on the term "running slow" ... what usually loads in

It forced me to connect to my YouTube account. But I don't want my main gmail account attached to anything. So I have to use my spam account. Then I connect to iGoogle and everything goes bonkers... slow, pages crashing...

Its running slow? That's barely definable, and more than likely on the client side. User error.

My GMail for the first time that I can ever remember is DEATHLY slow. It has been like this since around 1:00 A.M. EST Fix your STUFF Google!
