Ricky Gervais' Golden Globes Fiasco Gets The Taiwanese Animation Treatment (VIDEO)

First Posted: 01/20/11 03:48 PM ET Updated: 05/25/11 07:25 PM ET

What happened during Ricky Gervais' lost hour at this past Sunday's Golden Globes broadcast? After delivering the kind of incendiary opening monologue that everyone not in Hollywood expected of him, Gervais disappeared from the stage for almost an hour.

Internet speculation on what took place during that time has ranged from a stern warning to tone it down from HFPA president Phillip Berk to a hasty back alley lobotomy delivered by Dr. "Human Centipede" Heiter. Taiwanese animation superstars NMA.tv recently weighed in on the mystery with a more pugilistic scenario:

Of course, he could simply have been enjoying a relaxing spliff in the merry company of an adorable 27-year old assistant director.

I'd give that an hour. Just sayin'.

Fiasco, gimme a break. From what I read, quoted from RG himself, there was no animosity at the afterparty. Supposedly everyone thought it was funny. Unconventional, maybe. Why is the media making a huge deal about this? I think they were the ones offended.

There was no fiasco. He come out, told jokes, made fun of people, juat like he said he would. He also got the highest ratings for the show in years.

Please HP, be a little more truthful and careful in your headlines.

If he'd been funny, it would've been fine. He just wasn't funny. And I'm with you 100% on the HP headlines ~ SO misleading, 99.9% of the time!

i think you meant " i did not find him funny" . Comedy is subjective. I personally thought he was hilarious as do most of the people i talked to.

Avatar used for Gervais = not very accurate
Tiny Scientologist Cruise = Hilarious!

The more I think about it, who exactly did me make fun of? Scientologists? Everyone goes after them. The president of the Golden Globes? No one knows or cares who he is. The nomination of The Tourist? Come on, it's such a transparent attempt to get Johnny Depp and Angelina Jolie to attend they may as well come out and admitted it.

Hell of a job, Gervais! And hell of a job, Next Media Entertainment!

I can just hear the Gervais laugh as he watches this over and over.
04:25 AM on 01/21/2011
He came back without his jacket, I'd say he went out to a local bar and they begged him back.

I just finished watching Ricky Gervais’ performance on Youtube and I wiped tears from my eyes laughing so hard. I refuse to watch millionaire actors pat themselves on the back, while comedians are stopped from really doing their job but instead become chief flatter, and that’s no fun, at least not to me.

I'm starting to believe Americans have gone nuts as if these celebrities deserve the deference normally reserved for popes or presidents. I’m glad that Ricky literally laughed in the celebrity faces.

Ricky Gervais did nothing to apologize for, in fact he should get a medal for giving some people a reality check.
