'Creed' Saves A Norwegian Boy From A Pack Of Wolves

Creed Wolves

Walter Eikrem, a 13-year-old boy from Rakkestad, Norway, was walking home from school when he stumbled across a pack of wolves. Almost paralyzed with fear, Eikrem thought of one way to scare the pack off.

Creed.

Eikrem, who had been listening to Creed's "Overcome" through his cell phone as he walked home, pulled out his earphones, turned the volume up, and held the phone up in an attempt to scare off the animals, according to NME.

And it worked. As Eikrem waved his hands and screamed with the music, the wolves departed. "They didn't really get scared," Eikrem said, according to Der Spiegel. "They just turned around and simply trotted away."

Packs of wolves are not uncommon in the Norwegian countryside, but the incident had the boy shaken up nonetheless. Fortunately he knew what to do in the situation.

"The worst thing you can do is run away because doing so just invites the wolves to chase you down," Eikrem told Norway's TV2. "But I was so afraid that I couldn't even run away if I'd wanted to."

We keep hearing how wolves are becoming so numerous and aggressive that people should be allowed to hunt them freely again. Yep. Seriously terrifying, rampant slaughtering, man eaters. there.

I saw the headline and immediately thought that the band was cruising down the road in their tour bus, saw a kid running for his life with a pack of snarling wolves nipping at his heels, and they reached out the window and snatched him up just as the biggest, meanest wolf made one last lunge and barely missed, his saliva landing on the heel of the boy's Nike sneaker. Fade to black. Nike Logo appears, tagline: Just Run.

Better than a lame story that could have more accurately read: Boy confronts pack of calm wolves, waves his arms and makes noise and they walk away.

Wolves have really good hearing and could probably hear what the kid was listening to when his headphones were plugged in and thought it was the sound of a wounded animal, which caused them to stalk the kid in the first place. It was the yelling and waving that scared them off.

He should have played Diddy's album. The wolves would request Visa's to escape.

Hey at least it was not Nickelback because if it was the boy and the wolfs would have killed each other.

Shoot, I was looking for a story about the guys chasing wolves off with their guitars and mike stands.

I do have to wonder what would have happened if he had been listening to Ke$ha.
