NASA Astronaut Mark Kelly has been by the side of wife Gabrielle Giffords since an attempt on Giffords's life on January 8 left her in critical condition. Although she suffered a bullet wound to the head, AP reports that "Giffords has been making progress nearly every day." Kelly posted the above tweet just before his wife was transported to the Texas Medical Center for further evaluation.

Somebody needs to explain to Michael Reagan that Alzheimer's is an insidiously long-incubating disease, with subtle symptoms extended over years and sometimes decades.

While that is true, the general view of the public is that Alzheimer's is just people do not remember things and their brains all go to mush.

HBO had a nice look at the various stages of the disease, but I do not think most people care enough to learn about it.
