State Of The Union 2011: Time, Length & How To Follow Live Online

State Of The Union 2011 Time

President Barack Obama will deliver the State of the Union Address for 2011 beginning at 9 p.m. Eastern Time and 6 p.m. Pacific Time on Tuesday, Jan. 25, 2011.

Obama's speech is expected to be about one hour in length based on previous years.

Last year's State of the Union from Obama was the first to hit the hour mark since 2000, clocking in at one hour and nine minutes. But the longest SOTU ever was in 2000, when President Bill Clinton's address spanned an hour and a half.

Obama is expected to focus on jobs, innovation and cooperation in the 2011 State of the Union Address. Here are a handful of predictions on what he might say from HuffPost blogger Chris Weigant.

Tonight's State of the Union Address can be watched LIVE on The Huffington Post. HuffPost will also have a State of the Union live blog, complete with real-time fact-checking in conjunction with the National Journal, the Center for Public Integrity and Sunlight Foundation. The Twitter hashtag #SOTUFacts will be used. The address can also be watched online at WhiteHouse.gov.

Listen for Obama to say two things:

1. We need more Science. ..and

2. We need a God who will interrupt physics for the benefit of 1/25 of the worlds population.

Tell me there isn't just a slight bit of tuneless irony in that pairing...

I'm getting a Democrat and the promises that our Democrat leaders keep making are failing. Our leaders are focusing on too many pet projects.... Immigration is an issue but not the biggest priority right now and the whole so-called "Dream Act" that our Democrat leaders tried to pass was a joke that would have rewarded people for entering the country illegally. Lets focus on the priorities which is the economy, jobs, housing, finance..... if we cannot properly handle our priorities then we have no business going into other issues until we can get back on track. I swear that if the Democrats do not start showing some improvements soon I will stop voting for Democrats and I will go Independent.

Yes We Can Mr. President but the question is Can You?

"Democratic leaders", surely?  Rightwingers tend to use the moniker "Democrat leaders", "Democrat party", and so on.

Having said that, let's see how this Immelt fella brings back jobs to America, and at wages that will put our economy right.  Let's see how things get fixed.  Or if we're in for the fix.   After all, nobody can wake up one morning and say "Today I will be creative and innovative and outdo everybody else and will continue to do so for every attosecond of my life!"  Reality isn't quite like that, so I have to wonder why so many inane buzzwords are being used...

I'm looking forward to it. And I am going to pay particular attention to the Republican rebuttal and how much of it is a true rebuttal and how much of it is as vague as their proposed budget cuts.

And to end the night, I'm going to watch Michele's rebuttal. That will mean I won't need a sleeping pill tonight.

What vague budget cuts seems as the list is pretty long but guess many of those things are backed by the freeloaders and just don't want to admit the cuts are needed....NOT MORE SPENDING.

I truly hope the President asks that Congress hold all applause until the end of the speech. If he does this then the media emphasis will be on the message, which is where it should be.

Otherwise, with the new seating arrangement, the media will be more focused on watching whose jumping up and who is sitting down which will be very disruptive. Holding all applause until the end might also have the added benefit of making an outburst such as last year's much more unlikely.

Good idea... their is no need for applause until we actually hear the plans and what is going to be done to address the issues facing our country and honestly why are we applauding someone for giving a speech? Action speaks louder than words.

Fanned.  We'll see how Immelt and the others fix today's problems.  It'll be fun to see if the continual dropping wages and dismantling the working class, amongst other things, will make our economy "sound" again or not.

I will be listening to the President. Why would I want to follow on-line? After I hear the speech without distraction, there will be plenty of time to see/hear the analysis.
