James Franco gave Meredith Vieira an awkward (but hilarious) moment Tuesday morning on the "Today" show.
Shortly after Oscar nominations were announced, Vieira and co-host Matt Lauer interviewed Best Actor nominee Colin Firth. Vieira, who has raved about "The King's Speech" and his performance in it, told Firth that she would polish his statue when he wins the Academy Award.
Immediately following the Firth interview, Franco appeared via satellite from New Haven, where he is studying at Yale.
"I'm happy to be here," Franco said. "Unfortunately they also stuck this earwig in my ear to be prepared, so I got to hear your whole interview with Colin Firth. You're polishing his statue, hey Meredith?"
Franco continued teasing Vieira, saying, "I know who you're rooting for, hey Meredith?"
An embarrassed Vieira quickly tried to move on to the next subject.
