Never one to shy away from controversy, Rosie O'Donnell has come out in support of 'Teen Mom.'

Speaking at Sundance Film Festival, O'Donnell told Us Magazine that she likes the show, and watches it with her kids.

"My daughter is 13. I watch it with her," O'Donnell said. "The rate of teenage pregnancy is up, so when my daughter saw that ['Teen Mom 2'] was on the air, I said 'Let's watch it.'"

For her, it was a way of teaching her child.

"At the end of almost every episode the mothers say they wish they used protection or waited, 'My whole life is over,' or 'I can't live the life of a teenager.' I think it sends out a positive message."

Teen Mom has had some controversial characters: Amber Portwood, who has had unending drama with her baby, and Farrah Abraham, who recently used her pay from the show to get breast implants.

Maybe yes someone could watch and learn from the mistakes these girls make. I have not watched the show but from what I have read about it I think it would still be effective if the producers would find girls who made a mistake and learned from it rather than featuring girls who continue to make one mistake after the other.

I think the producers of Teen Mom want the ones who don't chose the right things ... the more drama , the better ...

Knowledge is power. Rosie's daughter got to see some of the consequences of unprotected sex. I remember seeing STD slides in high school health class. It was fairly traumatizing and did the trick lol.

More parents should be like Rosie. I think what she did was much more effective than preaching to Chelsea.

Rosie jokes aside... I think this is the best way to watch this type of show is the way Rosie described. This allows you to put your own spin on things and make sure they get the right message.

I like Rosie but she can teach her daughter those things without watching that show. It also disappointing since Rosie is against child exploitation and that is what that shows does. It exploits those girls and their babies.

Do not agree- you cannot have enough of the entertainer of substance that is Rosie.

I disagree. It's a positive message to children with parents like Rosie who have lots of money and who actually take the time to explain the show to their kids. But for the majority of American teenagers, it glamorizing teen motherhood by putting young moms in the spotlight, giving them a show, and paying them tons of money.

Insightful & hilarious!
Rosie was my best friend when my daughter was a teen-ager. She gave me an hour of entertainment everyday, which helped me cope. And my daughter grew up to be terrific, by the way.
