As the mom of 2 TKD black belts, I have seen numerous kids at risk come to learn martial arts. At the end of each session the students recite certain commitments, among them the pledge to treat others with respect (in fact, several reinforce that theme). Likewise, the necessary concentration has helped some kids with ADD/ADHD. I have found martial arts to be a wonderful mechanism for kids - problem remains the expense....

Martial arts are a great way to teach about non-aggression since they reinforce the principle of defense versus offense. Great initiative!
