Kim Cattrall Reacts To Her Razzie Nomination

NEW YORK — Despite a barrage of bad reviews and pair of Razzie nominations, "Sex and the City" star Kim Cattrall is hopeful for another installment in the TV and film franchise.

The 54-year-old actress says she's glad the Razzies exist because "it keeps you honest." She hasn't been approached for a third film yet, but she says she believes the fan following is still strong.

Cattrall and her co-stars – Sarah Jessica Parker, Kristin Davis and Cynthia Nixon – share a Razzie nod for worst actress for "Sex and the City 2." The film is also up for worst picture.

"The Twilight Saga: Eclipse" and "The Last Airbender" lead the nominations with nine each.

C'mon, everybody lighten up a little. SATC 3? Why not?
That said, I remember a little pay cable show called Sex and the City that was about something more than shoes and cupcakes. Perhaps they might revisit some of the more classic episodes on DVD and find the heart of these characters once more. But if not, so what. Make a third one and I will be there anyway. And probably so will you.

I haven't seen it, but I saw the first one and can extrapolate, probably.
 
The thing about Kim's character is that I know her in real life more than I do the other 3 - the woman you can't call pretentious because she knows she's petending to be sophitisticated, or racy, or whatever.  She knows everyone is pretending.  She has decided to do it with drama.  In the real world, I can't help liking women like her, so I wish any one of the other characters had gotten the razzie.
 
Or better yet, that insipid love interest of Carrie's, John Corbett.

Here addressing the nomination and then hoping for another one is very honest. She's basically saying, yeah I know it's crap...but I want to make more money. Then again, she did do Mannequin so her bar probably isn't all that high.

Her addressing the nomination at the show that over a billion people are going to be either watching or reading about in some way due to the combined star power of the nominees - is just smart PR.

The Razzies are probably the reason - there will be another SATC movie - hopefully they get Gerard Butler to star as the new Mister Beeeg.

I liked the TV series for the first couple of seasons; it was very real to me, being single and living in the Big City myself. By the time "the Russian" showed up, the only characters I could stand were Samantha's hunky boyfriend Smith, and Miranda. Carrie was a self-centered whinefest, Sam was a caricature, and even Charlotte (my favorite) lacked believeability - I didn't believe for a minute that she would abandon her yuppy upbringing and embrace Judaism. So when the first movie came out, I gave it a miss, and when I saw previews for the second one, with them swanning around Morocco in bizarre outfits, I knew I was going to give that one a miss too. Somebody give this series the traditional coup de grace, please!
