Wash U Students Not Happy About Bristol Palin Panel

Student Life:

Student outrage over Student Union Treasury's decision to fund a panel featuring Bristol Palin for $20,000 was not assuaged by Wednesday's SU Senate meeting.

Students were jammed against the walls of the filled room as senators and discontented students voiced anger, suggestions and occasionally support for the panel. Freshmen Gabriel Hassler and Michael Harding waved a sign that read "Can I get paid for an accident too?"

What exactly was she going to say? That they too can become a success after giving birth as a teen by becoming a star that's loved by idiots, but they shouldn't really get pregnant?

That woman has been living the life that any teen mom would love to have and that says that Bristol knows nothing of the struggles that most teen moms got through. Those teen moms have more of a right to speak to others about this subject then she does by a landslide.

Oh No! This one really takes the cake! Exactly what was she going to talk to them about???? She can't be the authority on sex before marriage and having kids out of wedlock??!!!!

Good for the University students - at least someone is showing some common sense here! $20,000 dollars - are you kidding me!!??? That could pay for a lucky individuals college for a couple of years in the form of a scholarship or a gift from the University if they just want to give money away!

I do not think any university should pay such a huge amount of money to anyone, no matter what their message. They should be giving another student a scholarship with that money. However, I for one would like to know why Bristol believes in abstinence so strongly now. She obviously did not believe in it before. Is she truly sorry for the unprotected sex that she had, or would she do it again in a heartbeat? Obviously she loves her daughter. So why does she object to sex before marriage?

When are these colleges going to learn that the Palins are not college material. How outrageous that they were going to waste $20,000 for her to tell the kids don't have sex or you will get pregnant.

This is not to dump on Bristol Palin. However, I work at a university for the Financial Aid Dept, and I see students every day strugling with their finances to pay rent, sometimes in order to eat, and buy gas. Also, I know students who are single mothers, who get themselves through college, get a good job, and take care of their own children.

So here comes this chick who got pregnant, but she's not strugling, and she doesn't have to attend college, work at some dead end job, or go on assistance, or support her own child. She's just going to get paid big bucks to preach to college students, who are adults BTW, about their sex lives. Really?

It's amazing that Palin's handler's (who are obviously moving Bristol around like a checkers piece too) can't see that the best way to market Bristol is for her to go to college (even a community college) herself. I so admire the young ladies I've seen who've come through our school, and done well for themselves.

But, from the Rolling Stone article I read during the presidental campaign about Palin, and when she was mayor, Mama Griz really does hate and resent smart people. One of her former Repub city counsel members talked about this, and how she has to get even with people she hates.

1. Mother is Vice President Nominee- Unknown and questionable experience on the national platform of politics
2. Mother knew you was pregnancy before and after nomination was accepted by mother- Possible shotgun marriage to help mother's political future which was sabotage by boyfriend, who admitted Mother's questionable parental abilities.
3. Mother contributed to the lost of her partner's Presidential race - Mother's ability to tear the country in half with racists her undertone used byy her and scripted daily from the right wing fringe of her party.
4. Mother blame you for sabotaging her lost to become VP - Mother needed a scapegoat and refused to except her actions, now you're forced to appear on "Dancing with Stars" to help mother's image with the country and world leaders.
5. Mother's image futher damages family home life - Forced to move out house and state because the family house is hell with Mother's repeated hatre rhetoric, embarassing lack of knowledge on National politics, Father's possible outside affairs and like of discipline for sibling.
6. Unwed get job as radio co-host and paid to talk events for large amount of money with no supported education or experience.... Mother won't ever become President but refused to accept facts........Priceless
5. Mother's appearance on show to support you - Mother chance to farther expose personal image, other than Face Book and Twitter.
6. Mother's action forced you to move away from her- Mother's image is outpoor image neg

Twenty grand for this appearance? The only lecture she could give would be on the benefits of being an unwed, uneducated pregnant teen. It HAS worked out quite well for Bristol. And besides, didn't she move to Arizona to be with a new boyfriend? She'll probably be pregnant again within a year.
