I love volunteering at God's Love We Deliver! Either working in the kitchen helping pack up nutritious meals or do prep work or helping make "blizzard bags" so that no client is left without food, I am always delighted to help out.

Animal Care and Control of NYC is a great animal shelter to volunteer for! Their budget has been drastically slashed by the City, so they are in desperate need of volunteers and donations to help out at their shelters. They receive over 42,000 wonderful animals each year, who desperately need care and rescue. Please consider New York's neediest animals and volunteer at the AC&C!

The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's Team in Training is my favorite! They made a marathoner out of me last January at the age of 46. The people involved are all firmly committed to the cause of blood cancer research and patient support. It's an AMAZING organization and I can't say enough good things about them! They've become my second family:-)

The work of the Children's Aid Society is wonderful! I am incredibly impressed with the quality of services and the caliber of people who work for the organization.

New York Cares is my favorite organization. I am a Team Leader as well as a volunteer on other people's projects. New York Cares trains leaders who then manage volunteers on upwards of 1000 projects per month, every day of the year, in many different interest areas, and in all 5 boroughs. When other nonprofits are not able to perform a service for their clients because of staffing, budgetary, or some other concern, they can always turn to New York Cares. Then, in most cases, New York Cares can send a team of volunteers managed by a trained Team Leader to perform the community service, be it tutoring youth in preparation for SATs, walking shelter dogs, providing company to seniors, preparing and serving food to the hungry, taking underserved children on exciting adventures, or any of thousands of other types of projects. All one has to do to be able to join the roster of 53,000 -- and growing! -- volunteers is to attend a 1-hour orientation. Then volunteer as much or as little as fits in one's schedule. Take a look at http://newyorkcares.org/volunteer/volunteer_opportunities/search_projects/ and click the SEARCH button to see what types of projects are available over the next 4 weeks. Then sign up for an orientation and get started on a path of community service! :-)

AIDS Walk New York is a fantastic organization. It is the WORLD's largest AIDS fundraising event and last year raised close to 6 million dollars to benefit GMHC, which is the nation's oldest and one of the largest AIDS service organizations. In addition to GMHC AIDS Walk also benefits close to 40 tri-state area AIDS service organizations. It is an inspiring event and it is truly the dedicated volunteers that make it possible. I invite everyone and anyone to find out more and volunteer with us! http://www.aidswalk.net/newyork/ We would love to have you as a part of this incredible team.

I've been a volunteer for Gods Love We Deliver here in the NYC area for several years. Every year I am more impressed with the quality of services they deliver! More importantly, I know they show the recipients genuine concern and love...from Gods Love, AND the volunteers. In addition, they offer so many ways for people to give and paricipate. I cannot say enough about them. However, the smiles and thanks from all the people who receive their help say it all. BRAVO!

I volunteer and team lead with New York Cares. It is flexible to work with your schedule. You can find just about any venue to volunteer in so there is something for everyone. You can volunteer around the clock 7 days a week. Mentor a child, walk a dog, help with taxes. help a child learn to read, climb mountains (urban adventures), feed homeless, paint a school, visit a senior, plant a garden and much much more.
