Gwyneth Paltrow covers the March issue of Harper's Bazaar UK, on newsstands Thursday. Inside the magazine Gwyneth poses for a racy animal print shoot, talks about her love of Beyonce and defends her lifestyle newsletter, GOOP.

Some recent GOOP topics that have been criticized for being out of touch: a 21-day elimination cleanse, how to balance work and motherhood and footwear suggestions for winter.

Harper's Bazaar's press release follows:

On Beyonce, who offered Gwyneth performance advice for her role in 'Country Strong':

"Beyonce is the most talented human being on the planet. She has so much mastery over what she does. It's not even confidence - it's on a whole other level. It's mind-blowing. I watched her (perform) a lot to see how she did it, and I was like 'Shit! I can't do that!'"

On living in the UK:

"In England, people are cool. They're really laid back and calm. Beyonce did the school run with me once, and everyone was fine. They also have really good anti-paparazzi rules. If you're driving in a car and they make you feel freaked out, that's against the law. They can't put you in a magazine unless they pixelate the kids' faces. I miss America, but I love living in the UK."

On playing an ex-addict in 'Country Strong':

"I understand how you can do something bad for you because I smoked forever. I smoked even when my dad had throat cancer. I was like 'I know this is probably going to kill me, but I'm going to smoke it anyway.' But I didn't understand wrecking other people's lives, and then kind of just waking up and tying your shoes. So he helped me figure that out." (Paltrow gave up smoking in 2003 when she found out she was pregnant with her daughter Apple).

On GOOP:

"Any time you do anything with any degree of sincerity, people make fun of you. That's totally fine. I don't care. I don't read any of it. My thing with Goop has always been, if you don't like it, then don't log onto it. There were a couple of times when I thought, 'I'm just gonna stop doing it. People are so mean to me. I don't want to do it.' But then I was like, 'Who cares what some lame person out there says?' I was in Italy once, and this old man came up to me and said, 'I had the best time in Nashville because of Goop.' And that is so worth it to me."

Gwyneth, you are classy, intelligent, beautiful and talented. Insecure people are naturally uncomfortable with that combination. You hang on to the real Gwyneth. Don't let your critics water down your existence.
Your persona didn't hurt Garbo. In fact, it made her more alluring. I wish I knew you.....

Yet another utterly misleading HP headline. When you read the actual quote referenced in the headline, you discover that her meaning is EXACTLY THE OPPOSITE of what the headline implies. It's really too bad, because this site was so immensely valuable during the election. These days, not so much.

Interesting insight. I tend to agree for the most part.

Tricked me!
Supermarket Checkout Tabloid Headline tricked me into reading this fluff "article". Why is Hufffington Post pimping for Harper's?
I like Gweneth and Beyonce, but this article has no substance.
Huffington---stay with politics.

Gwyneth,
I love you. Not in a stalker way, honest. But I've always had a crush on you, think you're multi-talented, and as celebrities go, mucho grounded. You have chosen not to take roles because you felt they were exploitative. You grew up the daughter of celebrities, and could have turned out horrible, like so many other Hollywood kids. Your success and grace are a terrific example of how to be a celebrity. Okay, I have to stop now, or these bitter, jaded readers who can't spell and have nothing better to do will post I really am a stalker. =)

Raving egomaniacs take their slobbering fans for granted and get petulant because it's not the entire world bowing at their feet.
Why not be satisfied with the adulation you get from other Hollywood fakes that are blowing the same smoke ("The whole cast is amazing. The director was amazing, and the amazing choreographer was just amazing." Ugh.) that you are?
Paltrow has the same skewed view as most of Hollywood: She thinks the butt-patting and kudos that fly around the umteen Hollywood self-love fests/awards shows extends to the riff raff outside the guilded gates, when the truth is most people have many many priorities higher than, "make sure Gwyneth is feeling good about herself today."

Let's see......Gwyneth Paltrow has acted in about 40 movies; won a Best Actress Oscar and a host of other awards; launched a singing career, performing in front of Country's elite at the CMA's; is involved in quite a bit of charitable work; is a happily married woman and mother of two children; writes a [harmless] weekly on-line newsletter; and to my knowledge has never publicly done anything even slightly despicable. Hmmm, guess that explains all the hateful comments - jealousy.

Its not because of jealousy. This isn't a fan site. If you want to read only nice things, then don't come here. Sheesh.

What I get from the negative comments is that someone in her position isn't allowed to have a real life in public. It isn't that she's overtly obnoxious or egotistical, it's that people can't relate to her. A Sandra Bullock type might be able to get away with it, though in reality her circumstances are no more like the average person's than GP's.

Oh Gwynnie...dear, dear, sweet Gwynnie...

Gimme all your cash and fame and I'll deal with all the horrible people being all insensitive and mean...and such things. No, really - don't thank me. I'd do it for anyone.

Does she do anything other than name drop?
10:13 PM on 02/03/2011
That's one of the issues with her, isn't it. But if you're a rich, super-elite individual, only other people like that can really relate to you, so that is who you pal around with. She takes way too much grief over GOOP, though.

Well, let's see......She's acted in about 40 movies; won a Best Actress Oscar and a host of other awards; launched a singing career, performing in front of Country's elite at the CMA's; is involved in quite a bit of charitable work; is a wife and mother of two children; writes a weekly on-line newsletter; and Lord knows what else. Do you do anything other than post critical comments about innocent people you know nothing about?

Well, duh?! I'm here aren't I? Sheesh. As for her other attributes, I'm sure she name drops when there as well. Does it all the time in DOOP.

" They also have really good anti-paparazzi rules. If you're driving in a car and they make you feel freaked out, that's against the law."

Really? Gee, who's writing these laws? Hippies from Haight-Ashbury in San Francisco? Is there a "You're not allowed to be a bringdown or killjoy" law on the books there?

LOL

"It is illegal to, like, freak someone out when they're, like, cruisin' in their ride, 'k?"

How incredibly difficult her life must be. Cry me a river . . .
06:14 PM on 02/03/2011
I subscribe to Goop.. and yes, sometimes it is irrelevant and out of proportion to "real life", but really, you have to take it as its presented. I've never found it self-serving, and sometimes there is a nugget that I can find useful, even though I'm in Canada and Gwyneth is in the UK. It's not like she is requiring someone to pay.. so just unsubscribe.. sheesh.. why is this even a story?

I like her as an actress but she is a very average singer, and she's quite out of touch apparently.

If she's going to make ridiculous comparisons of her Hollywood starlet life to a real working mom she should expect backlash.

Beyonce is good at what she does, but that was just a bazaar statement. Most talented person on the planet? Lol ya ok, guess she's trying to butter her up.

And those photos are way over photo-shopped.

A bazaar statement? You mean a statement made while standing in a bazaar in, say, Egypt?

What I love is that she does an interview with a magazine to promote a movie, a website pulls the most salacious parts and a quote that really doesn't quite cover the whole thing and is misleading and people are here whining about and calling someone they don't know names.

Seriously? Ultimately it is just called life. A magazine interview is not going to tell you much about a person but what another person decides to print about them in a log talk. Sure it gives a glimpse. We really don't KNOW the people that are written about and when anyone pretends to and is so bold to be as mean as people are, it really blows me away.

I just think Karma. Life just seems too short to spend a lot of time leaving comments about total strangers and what awful people they are. In the grand scheme of things, she is merely a parent who is doing their best with what they've got. You may think her life is easy, I'm sure it's hard in other ways. It's not hard like life is hard for a lot of the world, but I'm sure it has its days.

If we want to bad mouth people, it's the Mubaraks of the world that should concern us more, Republicans who want to take a woman's right to chose, etc.
