Jason Segel & Paul Rudd Meet Rush Backstage (VIDEO)

First Posted: 01/31/11 12:23 PM ET Updated: 05/25/11 07:30 PM ET

Straight out of the bromance "I Love You Man" comes this epilogue of sorts where Paul Rudd and Jason Segel finally meet the band of their dreams: Rush. You may remember how Segel and Rudd's characters Sydney and Peter (respectively) bonded over their love of the "greatest band ever" in the movie, and this video from Funny Or Die follows up on that bond with a look at the best friends backstage in the band's green room. They've got their "show beards" and their double-neck ready to "slappah da bass" with the holy trinity, but of course, not everything goes according to plan.

I don't get the Jason Segel thing. From F&G to HIMYM, and including his movies, I find him to be the most amateurish, gawdawful, actor around. And I like How I Met Your Mother, but boy is he annoying.

Paul Rudd, meanwhile, is extremely talented, and needs to stretch some, as an artist. I think he's got some untapped dramatic chops. Let's see who's still around in 10 more years.

Oh, but the band, well, not only are they innovative, creative, progressive and imaginative, they've also got great senses of humor. Not only were they great here, but remember this?:

Those dramatic chops aren't untapped. Rudd is a classically trained actor who has performed on the Broadway stage. It's just that he's made a name for himself in these damned manboy bromance movies.

And Jason Segel is a great big giant cuddly teddy bear.

Yeah, this was filmed by Rush's team and played at the end of their shows on the Time Machine tour last year. It's not a Funny or Die video that was just made. Rush fans have already seen this (probably more than once). It's nice that other 'regular people' can see it now (lol).

Great band. One of my all-time favorites. Used to play some of their stuff in my own band in the eighties: Limelight, Freewill, The Spirit of Radio. I had trouble playing a couple of the bass solos in YYZ, and forget the solo in La Villa Strangiato. Geddy is truly a phenomenal bassist. What a shame that Rush isn't in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Eventually perhaps. (Crossing my fingers.)

After Letterman, Limbaugh has put himself in a media bubble where he makes no appearances outside of his own show.

I thought the same thing. Lumbaugh is actually more relevant than this terrible Canadian band from the 70's.

LImbaugh is relevant to US politics in the same way diarrhea is relevant to digestion.

These two meeting Limbaugh would have been interesting and probably even funny.  Isn't Rush a Canadian band?  Careful, my dear.  Tender toes.

"NEIL PEART IS THE GREATEST DRUMMER OF ALL TIME!"

On a separate note, the hottest part of Jason Segel and Paul Rudd is Rashida Jones.

How is this news? I saw Rush last summer and they played this at the end of the show. Funny stuff, and RUSH IS THE GREATEST BAND ON THE PLANET, but I don't get how this is news, especially today. Slow day for ya, eh, Huff Post?
09:04 PM on 01/31/2011
You understand that this is not news, it is simply comedy. Not everyone went to see Rush in concert last summer.
