Florence Welch's Eye-Catching Indie Style (PHOTOS, POLL)

First Posted: 02/01/11 08:48 AM ET   Updated: 05/26/11 08:11 AM ET

British singer Florence Welch of the indie rock band Florence and the Machine is certainly one to keep an eye on. Her hit song "Dog Days are Over" catapulted her to stardom, as it earned her a VMA and Grammy nod, and she even performed at the Nobel Peace Prize Concert in Oslo last December.

On stage, Florence opts for Stevie Nicks-inspired outfits with dramatic sleeves to highlight her energetic arm motions and commanding stage presence. On the red carpet, the singer dons vintage-inspired ensembles with lace, velvet, and floral prints. She's not afraid to wear socks with heels or to highlight her flaming red hair or to turn up pantsless at a Chanel show, all of which we absolutely love.

Take a look at some of Florence's best looks and let us know which ones are truly marvelous.

LOVE her. She is truly a breath of fresh air. I really do hope she makes it big in the mainstream without altering her sound. There's a real depth and organic feel to her music that is isn't found in any other pop musician I can think of who's ruling the charts these days. Oh, and she can actually sing. Really, really well, I might add. Hope she's around for a long time.

I just listened to "Dog Days Are Ove" for the first after reading this article, and I have to say the song is AWESOME. I like indie music, but lately a lot of indie is either starting to sound the same, or the artists try too hard to be different that their songs just end up being a cacophony of sounds. But Florence's song is just the right balance of mainstream and indie - I can't wait to hear more from her!

Love her androgynous looks. Much better taste than most of the "style icons" always huffed about and poured over.

what is worth writing home about is her music. Lungs is the best album of the year hands down. She "indied" should win best new artist of the year. Her music is phenomenal. It reminds me of Sarah McLaughlin's and Sinead O'Connor's first albums. Absolutely mind blowing. Stuff that no one has heard before. ground breaking. creative. art. beautiful. meaningful. I tell you, baby she is a firework!

She is fearless in fashion and has a body that wears clothes...they do not wear her.
Her taste is exquisite and her voice and the Machine are amazing. Brava.

Saw her at the House of Blues in Boston, Halloween night, kicking off her US tour. What a fabulous concert! Can't wait for her return.

I've listened to some of her live stuff. T in the park and Lungs live. She is great live, but she can get a little enthusiastic and a little off key. Maybe its me.

Maybe I''m must in love with her studio sound. Where can I vote for her to win a Grammy for Best New Artist!!!??!?!??!?!?!??!!!??!?

I concur, in fact, I wouldn't say "a little" off key. She's fun to watch, their music is fun, but she gets WAAAY off key. The indie radio station ranked Dog Days as the #1 song of 2010, and I just can't get behind it. A group needs ot perform better to earn those kinds of accolades, imo.

I was at that show too - her Day of the Dead costume was awesome! Loved the skeleton band, especially the harp!

she makes the harp rock again.

Those legs are certainly nothing to write home about, but she does know how to dress!

I could care less what she wears...She is proving that substance over style is on its way back in the music industry. Can I get a hallelujah ~

you're so right. this is one entertainer that I think actually deserves all the accolades she gets. i'm glad got to see her live last year when she was just beginning to get attention here in the states.

My personal favorite from her. She was great on Jools Hollands bbc show last year. Wish we had something like that in the US.
