A Denver woman is being charged with prostitution while knowing she had the HIV virus
A spokesman from the Denver Police Department told KMGH 45-year-old Frances Woodke was formally charged with felony prostitution with knowledge of AIDS and misdemeanor prostitution and solicitation of prostitution.
By Colorado law, anyone convicted of prostitution is subject to an HIV test. If the person tests positive, any subsequent arrests for prostitution are accompanied by class 5 prostitution for knowingly committing the crime while infected with the virus.
The Denver Post reports that Woodke pleaded guilty in 2000 and 2008 to attempted prostitution with knowledge of AIDS.
In 2009, a 29-year-old man was also charged with prostitution with knowledge of being infected with AIDS
