Jon Stewart: 'Sarah Palin May Be A Russian Spy' (VIDEO)

"The Daily Show" returned Monday night and as expected, Jon Stewart addressed the chaos in Egypt and Hosni Mubarak's exile. But as we'll probably hear more from Stewart on the tormented country this week, you'll find the night's most noteworthy segment in the clip below, where Stewart realizes that Sarah Palin may, just may, be a Russian spy.

After Palin called President Obama's "Sputnik moment" analogy a "WTF" moment, and got her facts wrong about the Soviet Union's collapse when debunking it, Stewart had an epiphany: Who would want to twist historical facts and misinterpret the President's message in that way?

"Oh my god!" Stewart said. "Sarah Palin may be a Russian spy! What? No, that's crazy! I know, but what if it's true? No, if Sarah Palin was a Soviet agent, she would have slipped up by now, and made some reference to favoring a totalitarian state."

This, of course, brought back memories of Palin's recent North/South Korea slip-up on Glenn Beck's radio show.

To think, this entire time we've been worried about "Kenyan Obama Socialism" and a Russian spy has been under our nose all along. Now, Palin's caginess began to make sense to Stewart. Her 2008 interview with Katie Couric brought many examples to mind: her inability to name a Supreme Court decision she disagreed with, or a newspaper she reads every day to start.

"Most comfortable in long, Northern winters? Her favorite color is? RED! What is the mascot of Russia? A BEAR! You are totally a super-hot Russian spy!"

Thanks for the laugh. On the other hand, maybe he's right. It would explain her difficulty with our language, and the way she seeks to undermine our respect for elected officials. What a sneaky plot, indeed!

Sarah might just be a Russian Spy, sent here to destroy America. She's doing a darn good job.

Don’t Russian spies have a 99-point minimum IQ requirement?

I was just going to say: the Russians (at least the old USSR) had fairly high standards. I am sure a real high school education was a minimum, and an IQ of at least 100, and the ability to read and write in English (you really don't think she is writing her Twitter/Facebook material: she has a jr. high school student for that). Sorry Mr. Stewart, I don't think they would let her loose in the USA (and definitely NOT Canada ... higher standards).

Everytime Sarah Palin opens her mouth I ~cringe~; run on sentences, incomplete sentences, change of thought in mid-sentence.
Maybe she is a Russian spy because I'm more confused by her answers to questions than before the question is answered. I'm always left feeling like I have no idea what she just said. If this is a ploy to throw people off by avoiding a direct answer, then SP has got it down to a science. Either that or she just makes no sense at all. I tend to believe the latter.

Political Hacks give non-answer answers, they talk just to be giving an impression they are saying something when all they are doing is making noise to sound important, that's what Palin does. Palin is really an over-glorified political hack. She's very incompetent as far as really knowing anything or really understanding the issues.

And Sarah Palin graduated from the University of Idaho which is in MOSCOW, Idaho.

Wish Jon could have woven that one into the segment.

That's where she got that "SPUD-NIK" idea from?

I like that... and it could also be a SPUDredNIK

To take it one step further rednecks (outside the US) sometimes have refered to Young Pioneer Movement - a Communist youth organization (still active in places like China, Vietnam and Cuba) known for wearing red scarves around their necks...

Do we KNOW she graduated? I demand to see her Long Form transcripts and at least one original letter signed by a professor who remembers having her in class.
